Nightmare vs Survival

I'm planning to start the game hopefully not much in the future. I finished the first game in easier mode and it was still so challenging. I can't decide whether I should play Nighmare or Survival difficulty in the game. How hard would nightmare be? Is survival easy?

IMO, Nightmare is the best mode to fully appreciate the mechanics of the game, but Survival is also a good option. Casual just destroys the suspense and the atmosphere of the game.

TEW2 is significantly easier than TEW1. Like mind-numbingly easy. I made the mistake of not knowing that before I played, and played on Survival for my first run in TEW2. About halfway through Nightmare at the moment, and it's SO much more fun. Really feels more like the first TEW, but tbh Nightmare mode in TEW2 still feels easier than Survival in TEW1.

Basically, I would recommend playing Nightmare first.

So, do you guys think the survival mode would be too easy? I like challange but I also don`t want hours to spend just to be able to pass a mission, whereas there are many other games to play

Just go ahead and give it a go on Nightmare. If you feel that it's too difficult just lower the difficulty there's no stopping you.

Nightmare is tough but you can manage. You need to stealth your way through the game and conserve ammo for the busier fights.

I second this. Start on Nightmare and then lower difficulty if you find yourself stuck or aren't enjoying the game.

Yep, I think I will go for the Nightmare after this post!

I found my first play through of TEW2 which was on Nightmare to be far far easier than survival on TEW, maybe because I knew most mechanics, or maybe because I looted everything. Anyhow I found it far easier.

Nightmare is what it means,
it is realy a nightmare to complete,but at the same time fun.
clasic is worst of all,
but hey if you want to find keys and hidden items then play it casual,

One thing that pisses me off is that they basically call "Casual" in this game "Survival". I'm still fairly early but the true "Survival" Difficulty in TEW 2 is actually "Nightmare". If you want a challenge level rouhgly the same as the original's Survival difficulty you HAVE TO play Nightmare difficulty!

Loving the game so far but I'd be super disappointed if I had started on this game's Survivor difficulty and I understand why so many people are complaining about the game being too easy if they started on Survival expecting it to offer the same challenge as the first game's Survival.

Same i was pretty dissapointed that the game isnt challenging on Survival, despite promise it would be. Definetly will give Nightmare a go after NG+ then classic.

One advantage of having to wait was I heard so many complaints of the game being 'too easy', which made me pause longer at the difficulty selection. Sure enough under Nightmare difficulty it said "For those that enjoyed the difficulty of TEW 1".

Currently in chapter 11 with two fuel tanks missing one piece. Loving the game so far with only minor complaints. I may have made things significantly easier with the smoke bomb upgrades... they're absolutely amazing and have allowed me to take out large groups like the old flash bolt.

Survival is pretty challenging in the beginning. it only gets insanely easy towards midway-end. And I've done Akumu on TEW1 like 5 times now. The fire guys and flamers are bullet sponges too

It is necro but I did nightmare on the first playtrough and survival on NG+.
Nightmare is about survival difficulty from EW 1.(as intended by the Devs of EW 2)

Survival in EW 2 removes tons of enemies from the map especially Sirens including during wave defence parts and you get way more ammo so it is much easier than the EW 1 one.
Flamers are very bullet spongy but they die in 3-5 stealth kills.Survival also has less flamer enemies as well than nightmare.

And upgraded smoke bomb rules in EW 2 in any situation.
