Also TEW1 had better environments and atmosphere. TEW2 was boring in that department, though the gameplay was WAY improved
The levels looked good and sometime the atmosphere was on point but the rest was just not enough for me to keep playing.
The second one is, to my surprise, WAY better.
The gameplay, the story, the voice acting, the open-world elements are just sooo good.
I can't even really tell why. Maybe because of the exploration, maybe because of the very good side-quests, maybe because of the whole story....it's just really good.
The second one is a better game.
Whilst the original had better boss fights and designs it suffered from being ultra linear and having a really convuluted plot.
Evil Within 2 really takes all the feedback from the original to heart. The "open world" really feels more like a hub to get from point A to B. Its not large enough to consider it a true open world but its not too small that its pointless. Side Quests are a big surprise that fit organically with the "open world" as well. Also the story is much better
I'd say my only complaints are is that i wish boss fights were a bit better and the game was a bit tougher as well
In TEW 1, how did the massacre happen? I mean.... Ruvik doesn't have powers in the real world, how did he kill the whole hospital?
In TEW 2, well, let's say Mobius had kidnapped Lily because she's kinda special. But how do they know she's special? Seb family seems to have no contact with Mobius before the kidnap though
As for your 2nd question, I dunno, sounds like made up plot crap that they forced in there much like the rest of 2's story. They said it was "standardized tests" but she's 5 years old ffs, what standardized test scores
TEW2 is by far less scary and isn't as much of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as the first. While a lot of things were genuinely scary and creepy in this game, the antagonists and bosses aren't as fear-inducing and as horrifying as those in the first. I feel as if they could have done better than an emo narcissist that is obsessed with making grotesque art. Ruvik was a true madman and in a good way.
TEW1 excels in how well they did the horror genre. TEW2 not so much. That said I think TEW2 is still a really enjoyable game!
