I hated the original, loved this one. The story is more coherent, graphics are better, Sebastian isn't weak as a 3yo anymore.

I loved the original, though I liked the sequel too. I liked the story and characters better in TEW1, each of them had something interesting for me and the story was something that was drip-fed to you slowly, and you had to kinda put the pieces together to figure everything out.

Also TEW1 had better environments and atmosphere. TEW2 was boring in that department, though the gameplay was WAY improved

As far as plot, gameplay and character development TEW2, level variety tew1.

First game was trash.

The original is one of my favorite games. The Evil Within 2 was very mediocre and mainstreamed for casuals.

What was mainstreamed? Everything was clunky in the original. Also the story was poorly presented.

I didn't really liked the first game, though I played it when it got released (with letterbox and everything) so I can't remember much of it. I know that I stopped playing because it was just boring and the whole story and everything was just...bad.
The levels looked good and sometime the atmosphere was on point but the rest was just not enough for me to keep playing.

The second one is, to my surprise, WAY better.
The gameplay, the story, the voice acting, the open-world elements are just sooo good.
I can't even really tell why. Maybe because of the exploration, maybe because of the very good side-quests, maybe because of the whole story....it's just really good.

Basically I think of them the same way I think of the Dead Space games. 1 is better, but 2 is also pretty good.

The first one is a better horror game.

The second one is a better game.

I prefer this one.

Whilst the original had better boss fights and designs it suffered from being ultra linear and having a really convuluted plot.

Evil Within 2 really takes all the feedback from the original to heart. The "open world" really feels more like a hub to get from point A to B. Its not large enough to consider it a true open world but its not too small that its pointless. Side Quests are a big surprise that fit organically with the "open world" as well. Also the story is much better

I'd say my only complaints are is that i wish boss fights were a bit better and the game was a bit tougher as well

First game had a slow start(the first few chapters were pretty ♥♥♥♥♥) but had more imagination, better story progession and environments imo. I don't get any "edge of your seat" suspence so far (Tho I'm not done, only just got to the city hall)...that said I'm still enjoying the game. Not a total disaster it's just not as scary and the xbox 360 level graphics don't help
i love the evil within 1 and 2 i really like the level verity monsters gameplay in the first game and the evil within 2 i like is open levels story gameplay new monsters and really fun shooting range mode.

Just a question about the plot.

In TEW 1, how did the massacre happen? I mean.... Ruvik doesn't have powers in the real world, how did he kill the whole hospital?

In TEW 2, well, let's say Mobius had kidnapped Lily because she's kinda special. But how do they know she's special? Seb family seems to have no contact with Mobius before the kidnap though

You seem confused, in TEW1 Seb enters STEM before he even gets to Beacon.

As for your 2nd question, I dunno, sounds like made up plot crap that they forced in there much like the rest of 2's story. They said it was "standardized tests" but she's 5 years old ffs, what standardized test scores

I personally think that TEW1 was far more brutal and also far more scary and unsettling. Playing it would often make me depressed and scared, and not want to play it due to how disturbing it was.

TEW2 is by far less scary and isn't as much of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ as the first. While a lot of things were genuinely scary and creepy in this game, the antagonists and bosses aren't as fear-inducing and as horrifying as those in the first. I feel as if they could have done better than an emo narcissist that is obsessed with making grotesque art. Ruvik was a true madman and in a good way.

TEW1 excels in how well they did the horror genre. TEW2 not so much. That said I think TEW2 is still a really enjoyable game!
