The problem is that if you transfer the ball to the finish first, there's no way to get up there yourself, afaik.
I tried that so many times.. I made the entire floor covered in blue gel, bounced as high as I could, jumped into a floor portal from height to launch myself out of the tilted wall, but I always just bounced into the acid. There just wasn't enough height to bounce all the way to the finish. I could only do that with the method I described in the previous comment (by bouncing the ball away from the button while beamed near the ceiling).
But I can be wrong, by all means, though I would like to see it done with launching the ball first!
For me the ball works just fine if you cover the floor with the blue gel and launch the ball either from top of the beam, or from the ball spawning tube and let it fall into a floor portal, launching it from the tilted wall. Not sure why it wouldn't work for you..
That's really strange!
Source engine jank, I swear
Nothing worse in a puzzle game that to have the correct solution just not work.
