Save game lost

I've played from the first date released till mission 10 on SoS, then I decided to take a break, changing graphics and watch Opening cut scene. Then after I restart the game, it said "Creating save game files" and all DLC got reloaded again. At home screen, there is new game instead continue

So I guess, I have to start from beginning again??

Do you start your game from the exe but not from steam? I also have this issue if i launch the game from the exe in the game directory. But if i click play from the steam library, my save file is still there. Make sure you have steam cloud on or else there's no way to get your data back.

I was start the game from the exe before the save game lost and it seems the steam cloud already sync, so I lost the save game

it happen to me rn , finished the game , got black screen at end now it keep sending me to beginning of game with no save

Ok, i did this to recover my save.
-disable steam cloud & exit steam.
-log in steam & re-enable steam cloud & exit steam again
-log in steam, run dmc through your library.
-there will be a prompt if you want to download your old save from the cloud or upload a new one. Download the one on the cloud
-play the game from the library and your old save should be there.

This is the steps i did to recover my save. If this doesnt work, then i cant help you.
Next time play the game through the steam library. I dont know why the game wont recognize your save if you play from the exe considering sometimes the game wont launch if you run it from the library.
And if by any chance you lost your save again, alt+F4 BEFORE the game makes a new save and reenter the game. Your save should be there.

already tried to recover save game but it's already replaced with deleted save game. guess there's no option then

Same thing happened to me before, since then I became paranoïd and backed up my saves everytime I finished 2 levels. I have a save of mission 10 on SoS difficulty if you want !

Sure, in which level were you ( and which difficulty ) when you lost your save ?

And maybe you'll have to disable the steam cloud save while the game load the one in your folder, but I'm not sure at all about that, just try until it works

Damn, it sucks. You should backup your saves every 1 or 2 levels now until they patch the game. Good luck on your new playthrough, and you're welcome
