Why is dodging in every DMC game so bad?
I played thru the game on ps4 when it came out, I just picked up the PC version on sale and my god I forgot how bad the dodge mechanic is. Bayonetta does it so much better, I'm not asking for witch time (demon time?) but it sucks to feel like you're on a roll and get hit because there's no reliable way to avoid damage.

I've tried to get into DMC 3 like 5-6 times and every single time I quit playing because there is no good way to avoid damage besides jumping out of the way. The actual roll dodge is more or less useless against a giant sweeping attack from a boss.

I just really wish dmc 5 would have taken notes from Bayonetta or dark souls. I still love the game but I can't stand this mechanic.

Thank the Savior there are no "proper" dodges in this series.
Skill issue

Because they kept the clunky gameplay from the previous games

DMC 5 in 2025 feels awful to play compared to other recent ARPGs

Now that Itsuno is gone maybe the franchise will be able to evolve and not stay a PS2 game

I am not giving you any clown awards buddy.
who needs dodging when you can royal guard
Dodging is practically the same (at least in terms of timing) as it is in a Souls game lol (he made the comparison not me)

You cant just spam dodge and expect it to work, just like how you can’t spam jump and expect it to work either

I-frames exist for both, but only at the start of jumping or dodge rolling. So skill issue
It's not bad, it just doesn't have the iframes modern gamers are used to. As comented above, if u can't dodge or parry damage, it's just skill issue. Idk why people keep complaining about not having an invulnerability skill/movement in an action videogame, don't see it as a must need.
There is a mode where u die in 1 hit in almost every DMC, and people didnt have trouble completing it. Learn to play the game.

It does have i-frames. Its just very brief.

If only you were comparing it to actual action game and not to the ARPG subgenre. DMC never been a rpg of any sort. It's a good old beat'em all action game...
2/10 rage bait

Amazing ragebait but if you're serious, if you roll at the right moment you teleport instead. It's a skill issue.
It works like how pretty much every other game like it does, you press a button, choose a direction, and you move in that direction and if you're locked on you orbit around them. I've never had an issue dodging in these games, and that comes from someone with nerve damage.
In DMC 3 you can use the trickster style. Not only the dodge is outstanding, as you progress through the style you will unlock outstanding abilities

For real. What an absolute ignorant take to hold.
