It explains demons with science, it has some sort of weird political agenda, instead of demons just being evil they made refuge demons. The character Lady in this show is not what fans expected. For the OST they use Limp Bizkit, which is an odd choice since the games have their own original OST which is much better and this is what is expected. Overall, it's kind of boring and slow to watch, side characters are pretty one dimensional and the tone is not the same as the games
(cuts to DMC 3 where he's constantly getting shot at by Lady, messing up, and generally acting childish). He is the punchline for a good majority of that game.
Considering the show is an even less "experienced" Dante than he was in 3 (as its a Dante who isn't even aware that he is half demon yet), having him lose a couple times isnt much of a problem lol. Especially when its clear that he is still incredibly good at fighting and can win against most things anyways, and isn't taking things seriously enough when he does lose.
Add that to how Anime Lady has had combat training at a young age and more technology to back her up (compared to the weaker and more inexperienced game version), its no surprise that she can occasionally catch him off guard at this point.
(theres also a ton of music from the games, so the "music isnt there" doesnt make much sense. A remix from DMC3, and three from DMC5 isnt a small amount for an 8 Episode season. Plus other music that still fits the early 2000s tone the series was going for)
But yea, that anime got WAY too political for 0 reason...
