Sudden Sound Issues
Hi everyone.I've played Devil May Cry 5 for over 2 months now, without ever having any problems. However, since yesterday I'm having these constant sound issues. When I start the game the sound is suddenly very quiet and dull. You know how, when in batlles, the music gets faded out and barely audible when you pause the game? For me it's kind of like that, only all the time.

I've been playing with mods (SSSiyan and Co-Op Trainer and such), although I haven't installed any new ones for a while now. The only thing I did that I could think of was installing the Pasta Breaker DLC two days ago, although I can't see how this would change the sound like that. All my other games on Steam sound fine though.

I've seen others having this issue ever since 2019 but I haven't found any solution to this. Even reinstalling hasn't fixed it.

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this and how I could fix this?

Maybe try opening sound control panel of windows while DMC5 is running and check volume of this game. If you are using headphones try changing 5.1/7.1 sound for stereo. You can also try going into sound settings~ output device~ audio enhancements~ if it is set to "device default effects" change it to off. Maybe one of these things will help you. I think these mods are probably not the cause of the problem if you have their latest updated version, although sometimes SSSiyan can do a mess with some things, also check RE Framework and try reinstalling all DLCs. If nothing helps try uninstalling all mods and verify the game files.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately it didn't work. I also gave it multiple tries without any mods, but the problem is still there, so the mods are probably not the cause.
If that is any help: I used to run DMC5 at a volume level of between 20 and 30. But now I have to set the volume to 100 and it's still more quiet than 20 was before.

Hm, this is a really unusual issue, it can be that something is wrong with the system, maybe try reinstalling the audio driver~

Okay, so I uninstalled all my audio drivers and unless I'm imagining things the audio is different now. When I was in DMC5's Mission Select screen it was as quiet as it was before at first, but then it suddenly got much louder.

...but I think it's still not completely back to normal. I mentioned before that I always played at a volume of 20 or 30 before, but I could swear that I have to put it to 50 now to get the same volume.
I have to play around with my audio drivers some more and see if I can get it back to normal somehow.

I see, I was also wondering about some third-party app that causes this problem, but it might be just audio drivers~ well, unfortunately I don't know how else I can help, so try and good luck, I hope the problem will be solved)

One last thing: After listening to it over and over I think the volume isn't/wasn't the only problem. I'm pretty sure that the audio quality has gotten worse too. Before everytthing sounded crystal clear, but now it all sounds like I'm using the cheapest headphones I could find (I'm using pretty good ones though). The audio sounds very flat and tinny now.

Anyway, thanks for your help! I really hope I will be able to solve it.
