As for me the game is really good and you can start with this one, I started with DMC5 myself, however, this left some of the story threads unclear to me, so I started playing the previous parts of the game and read more about it later.
It only depends on what you expect from the game itself. If your goal is to focus only on the gameplay, then play DMC5~ in the game's menu is something like a summary of other parts of the game, it isn't very detailed, but it's enough to understand the main story thread~ if you decide to play other parts of the game, I recommend DMC3 and DMC4.
However, if you ever decide to play the whole series, the chronological order is: 3, 1, 2, 4, 5, and the release order is from 1 to 5. You can skip DMC2, because this one has a very bad reputation and I don't recommend it to you myself.
