But I get the problem if people start saying "the games never had good stories anyway" which i hope not happening often.
Still hate Adi for butchering Castlevania.
Nocturne.
Castlevania Season 1 and 2 was ok at best, but it lost it's luster after that.
I would say the same thing about you.
I watched Castlevania but I wasn't familiar enough with the series, how did he butcher that?
During season 3, the plot derails because dracula died and it feels like the show have no idea how to continue the whole thing. Hector been reduced to a wimp, Alucard for no reason having threesome with twins (and out of nowhere tries to kill him), then Trevor and Sypha basically does add nothing to the story. Only Isaac gets growth, and he is a very different character compared to the game he's in (Curse of Darkness, it's the same game that also have Hector, who's the main character) I kinda lost interest after that.
I want to add that Adi seems like to diss on Christianity (apparently a recurring theme), he portray the church as the villain, killing dracula's wife which started the whole thing. then there's an undead bishop somehow can bless a river? And then Trevor's explanation on why vampires fear the cross is very scientific (the vampires doesn't like certain angles) rather than religious.
But then comes Nocturne, it "adapts" Rondo of Blood (one of my favorite entry). The game itself have a pretty concrete story. Its just about Richter, saving his girlfriend, Annette (and few other girls.) from Dracula. Despite being a classic Castlevania, the story is very simple and it leads to Symphony of the Night, one of the well known entry of the series.
Nocturne in the other hand, is not a well written show, the problems i have with this show is the same with DMC Netflix.
Richter is a mess of character, in original he is strong and confident, while in the show, he is less experienced and belittled by other characters.
Annette in the OG game is just Richter's girlfriend. She didn't have much role besides that but she is the motivation for Richter. In Nocturne, they changed her completely, not just her skin color, but her personality too, as a mary-sue, can do no wrong, and often belittles Richter for being sane (One point, she called Richter useless and coward for having PTSD, from ENCOUNTERING THE KILLER OF HIS MOTHER). Also there is a dedicated episode for Annette too. What's worse is that for SOME reason, Annette takes a LIKING to Richter in the same episode where she calling him USELESS.
Maria is also one of the major character in both show and game. In the game, she's an unlockable character (basically easy mode), and her personality is just "good vs evil." Meanwhile the show makes her annoying and another girl-boss type of character (but sidelined in favor for Annette).
The writing of the show itself is very bad, it just mean spirited and doesn't respect the source material.
And i don't even mention that they tried to shoehorn French revolution into the plot, because it was never in the game despite is in the same time frame. And it is not implemented well.
After season 1 of nocturne, I pretty much didn't watch season 2 which just came out this year. That's how i feel and that just scratching the surface. I just want to forget about this show in all honesty but the bad qualities that i mention just sticks out like sore thumb.
holy hell that's a ton of stuff. At least it got me interested enough to finally play a title, i have a DS lite so i played and finished portrait of ruin, im now on dawn of sorrow and tbh it was a blast playing through portrait of ruin but i don't know how popular that game is in the community.
Portrait of Ruin is a great game and actually my favorite Igavania game. Dawn of Sorrow is an excellent sequel to Aria, which reccomended if you want to understand the story of Dawn of Sorrow since DoS is the sequel.
I can't say much about Order of Ecclesia (haven't beaten that), but that game is harder than both DoS and PoR. As for the community's opinion, it's pretty polarizing since some people have it either as their favorite or least favorite.
The games are very rich in plot and world building. Which is why I am pretty passionate about the series.
The holy trinity of the fandom.
Don't worry, we can see you're a fake fan. You own neither DMC 5 nor DMC 4.
