Finally beat SoS
I finally beat SoS with the main cast and I can proudly declare, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ suck. How do people not brainfart playing Dante? The guy has an answer to any enemy on any range at any enemy type/density while having i-frame block and i-frame dashes for days. You literally have dozens of options at any point of time, my brain just stops functioning when I play him

I sort of get what you mean but it goes away as you play more and develop your playstyles.

That's exactly what makes Dante the most fun character.

Practice him in void a bit.

Fun is a very subjective term. I enjoy Nero more, personally. The number of abilities that a character has does not neceserraly relate to how enjoyable he is.

The thing is. Nero is simple but hard if that makes sense. He has limited moves but you have to master the exceed for majority of them to keep your dps up and also master the bringer knuckle to utilize the knockback cancel mechanic to extend combos. I as a mediocre player comprehend what I need to focus on to improve. With Dante its just a black void. Do I practice royal guard? Do I learn his weapon combos? Do I learn his ranged? Do I utilize his gunslinger more? Do you practice weapon switching mid combos? What about royal guard animation cancel? Do I practice swift style switching. Its like a goodamn blur. I just cant figure out a pattern to get better becasue I literally have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ idea what I am doing

As for Nero. He is a very different character. If Dante is a trickster to say.. Plays with his enemies, doesn't take them serious, focuses on number of attacks and combos instead of their power, then Nero is a charger of sorts. He never holds back and gives enemies all he has. You can Exceed you sword charge blue rose, devil breaker and your sword (for the lunging attack) all at the same time and when you're in DT then you want to take advantage of your crowd controll and heavy DPS casts with which you can use your summoned swords and hold enemies with a devil bringer for protection while also charging you devil breaker for futher attacks. When you unleash all this charged damage it's doubtful there will be many enemies left alive. Nero is also the most airial charact of them all. He can practically stay in the air indeffinetly with his jums, gerberas, taunts ans snatches and he can also use the time he has in air to charge his damage whilst doing airial combos.

As I've said I do comprehend Nero)) I cannot wrap my finger around Dante at all

As for Dante you want to really learn all his moves and develop your own playstyle. You don't HAVE to use all of his abilities and styles, only what suits you. You can separate his moveset into categories: The style build up/mobility moves and damage dealers. When you get an oppening on an enemy you want to punish him as much as possible and finish him off with a high damage move like say balrog's raising dragon or however it is called in this game, also, one of Dantes core mechanichs in this game is his SDT quadruple S cancel. If you play with this in mind then basically think of all his moves as a way to get your rank to SSS and then deal damage with your SDT.

Also, for all the characters but especially Dante. You want to learn how to utilize jump cancels for quick combo chaining and mobility. Never forget to use your taunt near as much enemies as possible off cooldown for style and devil trigger gauge.

Don't feel bad. Dante has been getting more complicated since DMC3. I've been playing since the original and I still find DMC5 Dante overwhelming. I also haven't beaten DMD since the original game... I'm pretty sure I suck too.

It's understandable why many may find Dante overwhelming; between his styles and weapons, he has an absolutely robust assortment of options uniquely available to him. That being said, you absolutely do not have to use all of your options and I certainly wouldn't try them all at once if you lack familiarity with him, that's simply just way too much to digest at once.

I'd suggest starting small (1 or 2 styles of your choice, I'd strongly suggest Trickster as that has Dante's best mobility options and possibly either Swordmaster or Gunslinger, depending on whether you prefer using melee or firearms; and 2 or 3 guns and melee weapons of your choice) and start making your way up once you start getting more comfortable with him; you ideally want to figure out how each of his tools work, where they work best, and more importantly if they fit your particular playstyle. Don't be afraid to leave weapons you don't really like or aren't very comfortable using behind either; I started using 3 melee weapons and 3 guns instead of carrying 4 each simply because it was a tad bit too much for me and I rarely used 1 of my melee weapons and guns anyway and I started playing a lot better as a result. Try experimenting with different combinations until you find something that really clicks for you. I've gotten better at using his different styles through practice and experimentation, but Royal Guard is still one I struggle to really get the most out of.

I've been playing DMC games since the first one and it's a lot to take in at once. So what I would recommend is voluntarily limiting yourself to 2 melee and 2 guns each mission, like it was in DMC 3. Pick one style to use primarily. When you're comfortable with that, start trying to work in style switching. Then add in more weapons and guns. I still don't use all 7 weapons at once, generally 3 or 4 depending on how useful I think Cavalier will be.

Knowing the enemies that will appear in a mission make it much easier to decide what to take. Proto Angelo can be bullied entirely with charging Coyote-A using gunslinger, it's boring and won't get you many style points, but it is effective.

There's also a channel on YouTube called Conqvist Guides (yes, I spelled it correctly). He has separate guides for everything from individual weapons, enemies, breakers, difficult bloody palace floors...everything. They are very in-depth as well even specifying what kind of stun an enemy will suffer from taking a hit from a specific move as well as unique interactions or properties the move might have, if any. If you're struggling to figure out how to launch or crumple a difficult enemy, Conqvist has you covered. Chaos (the rolling spikes enemy) can be easily handled with charging sword master style with Devil Sword Dante. Not only will that version of Round Trip stop the roll it will also break his spines allowing for you to easily launch and combo him to death.

I sense your problem is trying to tackle everything at once, break it down and take it in bite sized pieces.

Dante is one serious guy to get good with. Just watch videos of Donguri or Brea, and you'll see how much time they put into getting good with Dante.
