I just realized that Dante is now at the same level as Vergil now.

ok so Hear me out, Dante has never actually beaten his brother in a fight but Vergil HAS beaten Dante so lets look at the scoreboard
DMC3
1st fight: Vergil kicks Dantes ass and stabs him with rebellion witch powers Dante up
2st fight: Draw between the two, the kick the ♥♥♥♥ out of each other and bleed everywhere
3rd fight: after a long and exhaustion battle the fight, Dante gets a good hit in on him and Vergil peaces out (this can be argued as a "win" for Dante but I think they count it as a draw or a null victory)
DMC: I don't count this because Vergil has been turned into nelo angelo and does not have control over his own mind
DMC5:
Fight 1&2?: so at this point Vergil has fully realized how his sword, yamato* works and has used it to separate his human side from his demon side so he could power up his demon side and turn into urizen and kicks Dantes ass but this is not truely Vergil and then Dates come back after realizing how his swor, rebellion* works
*Each of the swords Sparta gifted to his sons has a power, Rebellion COMBINES power, when dante was stabbed with it, it combined the demon power of the sword with his own blood, then when he stabbed himself with it again with the devil sword Sparta it combined its power with his father's power who was as strong as the demon king Mundus who ate the blood apple that Vergil ate as Urizen. Vergils sword on the other hand SEPARATES things, hence its ability to cut though pretty much anything, but that includes separating things like his human side and demon side, its also how he teleports, he just separates the space between two points lol, on that note this means him and date are not really stuck in the demon realm lol
Fight 3: now both of them just as strong as there father and can use sin devil trigger and Dante FINALLY able to use summoned swords (witch his father and brother could use but not him) fight and its a big ass draw, then Nero comes and slaps the ♥♥♥♥ out of uncle Dante who was like....ima sit down I'm tired anyways, and Vergil is like...wow my son is cool, lets test him.
so yeah now the two of them are chilling out in the demon realm fighting demons, Vergil finally happy with the fact that he is as strong as his father chilling with his brother fighting a bunch of demons till they get bored and use yamato to cut a hole out of the demon realm because Dante wants pizza and ice cream.

Dante beating Vergil was kind of a plot point in dmc3. It's because Vergil couldn't beat Dante that he resorted to using Yamato to separate himself in two.

I think he won back then for the same reason Nero won in this one. There's no way Nero is Stronger than Vergil in terms of power, but he still beats his ass just like Dante did. I think it's tied to the narrative. He won because he was more motivated or some anime ♥♥♥♥ like this lel. Even the level is called "True Power". In dmc3 in the beggining Vergil was presented as a serious guy with serious motivation whilst Dante was presented as a care-free punk who didn't give a damn about anything and only wanted to defeat his brother so that he would ♥♥♥♥ off and leave him alone. But in the end their positions are switched and Dante is the one with serious motivation to protect humans in his father's stead while Vergil just wants to pointlessly fight to prove his own power (at which he fails).

honestly Nero beat beat Vergil because they were kind of playing and not really fighting, also Date and Vergil were both strong for there own reasons, Vergil was skilled and focused and Date was care free and go with the flow, Vergil had a mastery of japanese martial arts and Dante used the power of whatever demon would become his weapon (that he would then sell later lol) witch is why Vergils only devil arm was beowolf because he played into his martial arts.
also Vergil was never trying to be strong than Dante because he was always stronger (in terms of skill) Vergil wanted to be stronger than he father, if you think for a second that vergil gave any ♥♥♥♥♥ about dante and how strong he was you are really REALLY wrong. Vergil had resentment toward his brother as he blamed him for his mothers death, the whole I NEED TO BE STRONGER THAN MY BROTHER WHO IS STRONGER THAN ME is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for DMC: devil may cry, aka the Don'te game so don't drag that games lore into the real lore of the game lol. as proof that he had been strong for a long time lets look at the facts
Vergil could use Devil trigger long before Dante knew there was such a Thing
with 0 power ups at the end of DMC 3 Vergil still managed to fight Dante to a stand still and force him into a all or nothing attack witch did hit Vergil hard but did not defeat him, he took the jump so his brother would leave the demon world and he can try to best the demon king on his own
Vergil could always use summoned swords witch Dante had to combine with not 1 but 2 devil swords in order to be able to use them
with all this at the end of DMC3 both Dante and Vergils power has surpassed there fathers as well as maybe Vergil making peace with his brother now knowing his mothers death wasn't Dantes fault

vergil has always been considered a little more powerful than Dante, due to him embracing demonic power more so than Dante and rejecting is human characteristics, that's why he's OP compared to Dante in gameplay, but in reality the difference in their power is extremely close, enough that Dante wins through determination and being the "good guy" sometimes

Well at the end of DMC 4 they are both at the peek of there power, they both fully utilize there weapons and can use them in the exact same way. Before that virgil started out stronger and ended up facing the demon king first, while he failed to kill him mondus didn't or couldn't kill him so he turned him into nelo.
Then between DMC 1 and 5 he went thought and bunch of crazy ♥♥♥♥, so much so he started dying because of his human side, then the events of DMC 5 and by the end he has the power of the apple and can use all of the sparta powers (the speed teleport, summoned swords, sin devil trigger) and alot of them he could do all the way back in 3

2. nero is vergils son, dispite how vergil acts he would never try to kill anyone in his family, he goes hard on dante because he knows dante can take a beating and he wants to be better than him and reach the peak of his power, why would he kill his own son?
3. nero went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ throttle knowing reguardless of how strong he was now he couldn't kill vergil even if he tried
after the fight vergil and dante now at the peak of there power and unable to kill each other chooses to stay in hell and have a demon killing contest to see who can kill more. dante stays because he knows vergil can take over devil may cry till he gets bored and comes back lol

Since Vergil and Dante are pretty much the strongest in their world now i guess *if* there is gonna be another game to continue, i guess it would be about Nero protecting the earth from some threat or what i would hope for : A game about Sparda and his story
