Game doesn't respond to any button presses from any input method

Like the title says, I boot the game up, the main screen comes up with the close up of Nero's arm and I have both my Xbox One Controller and my Xbox Series X Controller as well as my Mouse and Keyboard and I'm pressing just about every effin but I can and nothing. it's as if the game isn't responding to anything, I tab+alt out and back into the game and nothing changes. I have verified the integrity of the files through steam and nothing changes, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and nothing changes, this game is LITERALLY unplayable for me no matter what it is that I try to do. This wasn't always the case, I stopped playing the game for a month or so because of personal reasons and now when I want to go back into it I get this problem?

Well, would this be possible on the Steam Launcher? Because I can't control anything within the DMC 5 game, even with my KB /:

Yes, right click on DMC5 in your library and go to settings.

Hey, so I was able to resolve it somehow but it was because I had a "Guitar hero" controller constantly connected into it, so I disconnected it and allowed movement with the Xbox Controller but then bugged out again, so I began disconnecting other things and reconnecting them, then it worked but by then I was kinda mad that this silly thing would be the cause of it so I alt+f4 lol Either way, try unplugging some USB input devices you may have and it should work after that. I haven't tried what Dante suggested though in "try changing the steam controller settings for the game", which I will do but I believe the game is trying to receive inputs from other USB input devices and that's making it bug out, really shouldn't be happening though as I have played games like Rocket League, Bayonetta and DMC from 2013 all while having my Guitar hero Controller plugged in constantly /:

Hey, thanks for that suggestion, I will definitely try that out but I have found a solution to it last night, it's a long comment but it's a reply to "Ghoat", I'm not sure why that's happening but it's annoying, I'm going to try your route now though, maybe there's a way I can make steam and the game only respond to Xbox Controllers and no other USB input devices, thanks for your suggestions though, it's greatly appreciated :)

Launch steam in big picture mode, then go to controller settings and match the controller settings for the type of controller you're using, (i.e. xbox one for xbox one) and always launch games you play with a cotroller through steam big picture from now on, hope this helps.

lmao while I fixed the button mapping issue, there's another issue.... Input lags! While it seems normal on normal combos that doesn't requires heavy chaining or multiple inputs, skills that used rb + back to front like vergil's judgement cuts and use skills like kick 13, drive and heavy rain blades will tend to fail and becomes rb front skills like lunar phase, stinger and blistering blades. I like chaining kick 13 and heavy rain blades or after helm breaker adding drive and over drive but the input lag will cause me to use different skills instead.
