Game will not launch

As said, won't launch. Tried everything. There is no .ini to config, nothing has worked. Dunno what's going on. Game worked fine uh... five years ago.

I've made upgrades since then, but like, it's a completely new install. I can't fathom why it's not working, I just know it isn't. I'm gonna try another clean install, but I doubt it'll work.

What I can think off is do a clean uninstall of GPU drivers via DDU then reinstall the latest driver then install Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2022 x86 [aka.ms] and DirectX Redistributable (June 2010)[www.microsoft.com] (optional for this game but good for old games) and x64.[aka.ms] then restart PC.

Some users claimed that using a customized "steam_api64.dll" (like Goldberg Emu) and applying Steamless to the app (DevilMayCry5.exe for this case) works but I'm quite skeptical about it.

Another one is to try downgrading the DevilMayCry5.exe to its old version. Maybe the modding community made a backup of that.

Also do you have like any pending Windows Updates? Might be an OS problem.

Though your last resort might be to install your current but latest version of Windows ISO (not reformatting, just mount the ISO and run the setup but might take a couple of hours to complete). It could repair corrupted files in the system.

did anyone found a fix yet? im having the same problem too, i just reinstalled the game recently and added new mods and it wont launch either

Same issue here. I suspect it has something to do with DX10. DMC5:SE is strictly a DX10 game. I suspect something recently changed with how DX11/12 render or wrap DX10 games. The error in evt is not very helpful either.

Wasn't a black screen that was my issue, but maybe I'll try it anyway.
