is this camera bad?
sometimes camera get to much closer when you are close to a wall.

I have the camera set to be as far away from the character as possible, but still.

dmc4 have fixed camera right? i remember this happens too sometimes, but in this game is kinda more common, maybe is the tight places??

do you guys think this camera is actually worse than dmc4 camera or just i doing something wrong?

Nah, DMC4 had way worse camera. Half the time it was fixed, the other – behind your back, but both are very slow rotating. Though I agree that camera in DMC5 is still far from being perfect, it's way better than in DMC4. Though not as good as camera in reboot...
Only when you are in a tight building (1 area in 1 mission) or you are unironically fighting back against a wall (just jump out lol).

Otherwise, you can literally move the camera as you please.

The camera is worse in DMC5. You always have control of it, but it tends to freak out in smaller areas, which is a not-insignificant part of the game. Even in bigger areas, sometimes you get too close to a wall and it doesn't like it.

do you think they make the camera free just because people think fixed camera are old?

Yes, I think that's part of it. The only areas of the game that still have a fixed camera are the boss fights, and it largely works well. Although even then, Vergil's camera can still freak out, especially when he summons his doppleganger and then the game suddenly gives you camera control.

I do think that the devs thought that "well, modern games let you control the camera, so we should do that as much as possible" even when, in tight cramped space, a fixed camera probably would've been better.

Devil May Cry 3 and 4 have much better cameras. Mostly fixed, but a lot of areas with free cam too. Allows you to keep your thumbs on the face buttons where the primary actions are more. But even the free cam parts don't have the cam so unwieldy as in 5. It rotates all over the place. 5 lost so much atmosphere and function because of the cam.
