- Yasuke: about an African man who served under Oda Nobunaga.

- Captain Laserhawk: about a black super-soldier living in a fascistic society, who is betrayed by his white boyfriend and gets sent to prison. Ubisoft game adaptation.
From Capcom's side, the supervisor had originally been by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who had performed the same role for the Madhouse anime and RE: Vendetta. He was also producer for DMC1 and DMC4. In the meantime, he's left Capcom for a Chinese online PC and mobile game company. This has apparently forced Itsuno to take on the supervisor role (which he had also fulfilled for the reboot and the Dragon's Dogma anime, produced by Kobayashi).
And if it has a budget similar to how the early seasons of Netflix animated shows start for the action scenes. We probably aren’t getting any Castlevania Nocturne or Season 4 levels of budget yet, but something closer to Season 2 might still work well.
(and then if the show does well and Capcom wants to keep it going, they can boost the budget higher)
As to Dante's voice: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/945451258586755123/1157092818184060969/F7IGEFpWoAU1L71.png?ex=65175a29&is=651608a9&hm=6c4896b00215e523f66c1aabedef2e6b8505fc52c1ac5486d93b6ba8ab62b02d&
I was trying to be optimistic, but my hype level is now firmly on E.
I still have faith it can be good, if they actually try to capture the spirit of the characters, but we are likely going to see bi dante, lesbian Lady (the character just to clear), girlboss trish and incel vergil. Characters that are defined by what they are and not who they are or some idiotic mentality towards others and life in general.
On that note: Reuben being relatively fringe on Twitter is likely what made them not consider him. This is to say: leaning overtly into certain political views or worse yet, insinuating you don't support them, is enough to make it rain crap, even for lesser known VAs like Reuben.
Don't believe me about Reuben? At a glance from his twitter page:
He believes in extra terrestrial visitors on earth, is overtly outspoken on covid regulations being bad, seems to believe in the occult (as in dark magic), regularly talks about psy-ops and more.
I don't personally care about what he supports/Does not, nor do I find his world view particularly scathing, but we all know corporations do.
But that’s expected. If you want to keep a large public position, you need to be aware of your online presence and can’t just go around posting weirdness and conspiracies. Even if he’s excellent as Dante
Maybe this new voice can be a good replacement for the games. He can “woohoo” well at least lol. Need more dialogue to see.
(rest of the post was just baseless assumptions that a show will be bad for not being an 100% adaptation, which we don’t even know if it’s an adaptation or a new part of the canon)
And it's not baseless. @OST literally posted about the writer's track record.
He's probably out since Capcom is replacing a ton of actors recently unrelated to any of his posts, but they werent helping either.
But its really up to Capcom if they keep him or not for the games. He's really good as Dante, but if they do replace him then I hope its someone good.
FWIW, Reuben apparently deleted the tweet, which might mean he’ll still voice Dante in other stuff. He’s well-loved by the playerbase, so if Capcom fire him over wrongthink, that shows who is important to them and who isn’t.
As someone who has loved these games since I first played DMC1 together with my best friend in school, if I could ask for one small mercy, it would be that this turn out to be a non-canon “bootleg multiverse” thing. NOT a “canon” DMC3 prequel about how Dante came out of hiding as Tony Redgrave, the inception of the conflict between him and Vergil, Vergil's little Fortuna trip etc… If Capcom gave a damn about this franchise, they wouldn't have signed away the right to a bunch of randos to write the canon on such pivotal events. The Madhouse anime was no good, but it was about irrelevant things happening during an irrelevant time period, so it was whatever.
Yeah so thats pretty much DOA, its the same guy making this
Kind of hard to judge an entire show when the trailer isn't meant to describe any characters. But from this action trailer, theres nothing that says its bad. Intentionally chaotic as a trailer is its intention clearly.
Nothing that says its amazing either, but at whats its intending to show looks good.
