Is PC Port the definitive way to play?
Hi all, just wondering how the PC port stacks up to the "Special Edition" re-release on PS5/Series X. I own the original version for xbox, but found out about the special editions, and wondering if the PC version if still king. I couldn't find much online. Thanks for any input.

The Special Edition has Legendary Dark Knight mode(the game throws a lot more enemies at you than normal), Turbo(makes the combat 20% faster) and Ray Tracing. However, if you consider modding then the PC version is superior and it's not even close. On PC you can mod way better versions of Legendary Dark Knight and Turbo with the SSSiyan's Collaborative Cheat Trainer[www.nexusmods.com] and many other useful features that the SE lacks. The only thing PC can't mod is Ray Tracing but it's just meme implementation in DMC5, not worth your time. On PC you can also use the COOP Trainer[www.nexusmods.com] to play as any character on any mission which you can't do in the vanilla version and the SE.

Thanks for the detailed reply ! That makes this an easy decision then. Could you recommend any other mods to check out ?

With mods - yes. Without - no.

For gameplay mods I suggest some of akasha51's[www.nexusmods.com] mods, namely Nero Combination Mod and Dante Dark Slayer. Though maybe install them when you finish at least one playthrough since these can be somewhat busted for the starting difficulty. As for cosmetic mods, honestly they are too many to pick specific examples. Start by sorting them by Popular(All time) and check the first 10 or so pages, though some of the old mods could be outdated since the Vergil update broke a lot of them. New mods should not have this issue.

Thanks again! A final question - Since we're modding - is there any benefit to getting the deluxe version vs the basic version + vergil? I am not sure if those features are possible to mod in, or if it's simpler to just get the deluxe edition from the start.

IMO the only things worth getting from the Deluxe Edition are the Gerbera GP01 breaker and Cavaliere R. Gerbera GP01 functions slightly different from normal Gerbera and Cavaliere R has one additional move. That being said, they are only worth it if you plan on playing beyond the first playthrough and want to get better at the game. If I were to guess, It could be possible to mod some of the Deluxe content but I don't remember seeing such mods.
