I will be referring to the buttons as if you were looking through the controller while you are holding it. So the button I say are on the left, are the ones you are pressing with your left hand while playing.
I use the same controls for Nero and V:
I have X on the bottom left additional button thats on the back of the controller for charging Nero's gun and Griffon's charge move.
I have B on bottom right additional button on the back for charging Nero's Devil Breakers ultimate moves
I have Y on top right additional button on the top near the Right Bumper for attacking with Shadow while I Run and move the camera with V.
Pretty sure I have A on the last one, the top left one near the Left Bumper, just for jumping if I want to be moving the camera at the same time, but I rarely use it.
Dante I put all of the Styles on the additional buttons, which is a big game changer for those wanting to get better at changing styles quickly while fighting.
I guess you could put what styles you feel best where you want, but this is what I do.
I put Trickster on my Bottom Left button.
Royal Guard on Top Left.
Gunslinger on Top Right.
And Swordmaster on Bottom Right.
That's what's felt best to me as I went through a few changes when first using the controller to find out what I liked.
Side thing is I put Devil Trigger on Left Trigger so I can charge Sin DT while fighting and release it when I want.
I put shoot on Left bumper solely for the fact that you can charge the Shotgun slide and roll moves to do more damage and stun if you hold LB while doing them. If you are in DT though they are already charge so there is no point there.
And then my gun change is on X for Dante due to the 2 changes above.
These last changes are personal preference as well. I would at least recommend DT on Left Trigger for better access, but having shoot on RB isn't necessary.
Sorry this is kinda long, let me know if you have any more questions.
