Then use all of his skills
>His dodge/defensive abilities aren't as good as Dante's
lol no. Jumping still gets you out of any trouble and on top of that he has Hard Way, Payline, Gerbera and Breakaway. In total that means that Nero can cancel and escape damage no matter what.
Dante on the other hand has set animations that he can't cancel out of no matter what (except with SDT).
>I miss his style from DMC4
He's a carbon copy of his iteration from 4 but with even more stuff attached to him.
Plus his lil' pistol can at least stun enemies a little instead of just tickling them for fun. Although I guess that's the same thing. And Dante has a sawn-off shotgun (and a million other things).
PS. but don't forget all those rev attacks that turn Nero semi-invincible.
Look at it like this, Dante is the complex one, Nero is the straightforward one and V is the strategical one.
There's a reason Nero's subtitle during his introduction is "Demon Hunter" while Dante's subtitle is " *Legandary* Demon Hunter". Same sh*t, but different.
Nero's defensive tools are actually on par with Dante, just very different. Hardway and Payline both have a hefty dose of I-frames attached, and are his primary methods of damage evasion. Table Hopper means he has the best standard dodge in the game.
Nero's weapon is slower than Dante's, but does more damage than Dante's sword. Nero does 80 to Dante's 70, and 96 during exceed, meaning Nero is over 33% more damage if you're landing those exceeds. Likewise, Ex-commands do significantly more than all but Dante's most sluggish moves, and do it faster to boot, instead being gated behind landing Ex and max acts.
Breakers take some getting used to, but give Nero incredible damage and utility. From Time Stop to his own (superior) version of Trickster's dash. On the damage side, he has his own version of Real Impact, Overture is equivalent to a low charge royal release, and so on.
Nero is a VERY different beast from Dante and needs to be played very differently. He is far more aggressive, and like a silver bullet piercing through, you need to be throwing yourself into them if you want to protect yourself. Payline and Hardway ARE your defenses, but they're also offensive tools.
And i have zero problems to achieve SSS with him during combo's.
