The skill ceiling of characters like Vergil and Dante are kind of insane, ive only played for about 20 hours, but i can very easily see someone put 300, 400 or 500 hours into this game.

This games replay value comes from the combat.
If you like taking time really dipping into mechanics and combos it's basically limitless in replay-ability.

It depends on what type of gamer you are. If you're the type to just play a game once and move on, then no. If you're an achievement hunter then this game will keep you busy. If you enjoy the combat you will simply play to enjoy more of it. Playing around with the systems and seeing what you can pull off is the appeal of DMC to many.

All the replay Value comes from learning the game and it's mechanics in depth, but the content is pretty repetitive.

Highly recommend playing the higher difficulties, because I feel like one playthrough isn't enough to experience in the entirety of what the combat system can offer.

I mostly play bloody palace because the campaign is a bit messy and weird and you also need to play V who feels a tad bit unfinished.

If you play it for the story (which I wouldn't), there's no need to play it twice. However I feel this game is made to be replayed many times, each time getting harder due to unlocking new difficulties. This game's strength and appeal (to those who enjoy it) is the depth of the combat system.

You've got a lot of hours of gameplay if you enjoy replaying the same game over and over while getting better and better at it. It's basically about kicking the most ass and getting your ass kicked the least.

I've got 835 hours in the game and I plan on playing more. Just saying.

If you play for style, endless. Literally endless. There's no skill ceiling for this game and it lets you express yourself in almost endless ways. Not being hyperbolic here. You get out of it what you put into it.

Can't edit my post for some reason: So as a followup to give you a sense of scale, I have over 500 hours in this game. I've put probs a few hundred into 3, a couple hundred into 4, a couple hundred into 1, and probs about a hundred into 2.
I'm nowhere near my imagined pinnacle of self stylized excellence in any of them. I'd probs need three times as much time to get to that point. I'll be playing these games for as long as my fingers are good for it.

If you want to get good, probably a lot. If you're one and done the campaign, then not so much.
Dmc5 has had more mainstream appeal by far than any of the previous dmc's. The game is more accessible and have triple AAA game quality. There will be players like my friend who finished 1 playthrough, thought it was cool, and was done. The dante must die difficulty and modes beyond are difficult, so if you like difficult games, then yes this will have high replayability. I'm beaten dmd mode on dmc1 and dmc3, so I know my way around, but also not some youtube pro. It took me about 60 hours to beat dmd mode, and about 100 hours for achievement hunting for main game not counting vergil dlc.

I like the combat but replaying the campaign wasn't fun for me. Hell even the first time through the campaign was kinda bad in my opinion. There is the bloody palace I guess but the game feels pretty unfinished in most aspect to me outside of the combat.

Story should be completed at least twice on advancing difficulties. First time you learn and upgrade the character, second time you slay.

That said all the replay value lies in the combat. If you enjoy the combat then you will find a reason to play. S ranking all missions on all difficulties could easily take 80-200 hours.

Then there is the Bloody Palace which is a 100 floor challenge tower with pure combat. It will definitely take a few dozen hours to beat because it is indeed challenging. This is also ranked so you can play against your own highest score like in the old times.
