Dante's personality
I started this series from DMC 2 and even now I still wonder how did Dante's personality change so much. The Dante I remember is cool and rarely talks but the Dante I seen lately even on DMC 5 is quite hyper and talkative lmao. Makes me miss the old Dante so much like how he said "Don't speak, just die." to "Yeah, lets go all the way to hell." in a cool tone. If capcom ever decides to remake DMC 2, I hope they keep his cool and silent personality.

Dante grew as a character.

DMC 2 Dante is the exception, not the norm

What personality? Dante in 2 was boring, only had two or three lines.

That's the cool personality that actually got me hooked by the game. He was quite humble and mature while didn't speak anything unnecessarily. The best part is he doesn't scream in a high pitch. Look at the time when he rode a bike heading to hell at the end of DMC 2, he's so calm unlike when he first rides the Cavalier. Also he don't look messy at all.

Dante always was talkative. DMC2 is sad exception. Also DMC2 was made by other developer team.

DMC 2 Dante looks like someone forgot to write his part of the dialogue.

More like he's cooler than hell (It on the back cover of the game). Tbh I don't understand how DMC 5 is after DMC 2. I mean Dante has already unlocked SDT on DMC 2 plus he's already surpassed his father Sparda at this point but DMC 5 made Dante looked like he just unlocked his SDT and most likely on the same par or slightly weaker than Sparda.

It's not. DMC 2 is before 4.

DMC 1 is the original Dante character created under the direction of Hideki Kamiya.
DMC 3, 4, 5, created under the direction of Hideaki Itsuno match Dante's original personality.

Even the anime series is more in line with Dante's original personality than DMC 2.

Hideaki Itsuno joined the DMC 2 development team late in development and had no time to fix anything.

While this is pure speculation, but the events of the first game may have on some level gradually got to him on some level. I want to say he came to himself again when he met Nero in 4, but the "briefing" flashback about halfway or so into DMC4 shows him eating pizza and being as goofy as ever (prior to meeting Nero), so I really don't know.

Anyway, thats pretty much the only guess I have in regards to Dante going from goofy-cool character in 3 into some Vincent Valantine character we see in DMC2.

There is already Vergil With that personality... (little exception to being humble)

I dislike Dante's character design in DMC5. He looks too scruffy.

Let's be honest here, DMC 2 Dante is the best Dante.
