Release at the very moment he stops moving.

I'm assuming you mean chain Judgment cuts because doing a regular judgment cut is just holding down the attack button for a few seconds and then letting go. First start with air Judgment cuts. Their timing is significantly more forgiving. Just do one hit in the air, hold the attack button, wait a second, let go of the attack button and quickly hold it down again, wait another second, repeat.

Then practice with Yamato Combo B (Press attack twice, pause for a moment, then attack once more for a clean cut). Hold the attack button on the third hit and release right when Vergil sheathes Yamato. Practice that a few times. You'll know you've done it right when Vergil doesn't dash back before performing the Judgment cut.

Once you've got that down, try to chain a second one. Right as you release the attack button to perform the Judgment cut, hold it down again. You wanna wait a second, and I find that listening to the sound of the Judgment cut you just performed helps find the timing; right as the swooshing noise from the first Judgment cut ends, let go of the attack button. If nothing happens, you did it too early. If you perform a regular Judgment cut (where Vergil steps backwards), you did it too late. Use this to refine your timing.

Once you've learned how to do that, adding the third one is the exact same process as the second.

You can do three Perfect Judgment cuts in a row (Vergil will say "Jackpot" when you perform all three), however you can start with a regular Judgment cut and chain three more Judgment cuts off of it for a total of four. When you perform a regular judgment cut and hold down the attack button, about a second after Vergil performs the Judgment cut, you'll see a flash on the handguard of Yamato. That's the moment you release your attack button to chain a perfect Judgment cut from it.

It's also worth nothing that it's extremely easy to get a Perfect Judgment cut from SDT Yamato Combo A because Vergil does a flash sheathing animation at the end that seems to slow down time. You have a very long window to perform a Perfect Judgment cut from it.

In the span of 2 days I went from not even knowing how to perform a judgment cut to being able to chain 3 perfect judgment cuts reliably, and I'm a relatively average player.

Thank you so much for the in-depth reply <3 I can chain judgement cuts mid-air much more consistently than I was able to prior and while I haven't really got into attempting the Yamato Combo trick you suggested as of yet I will definitely make sure to try it out the next time I play and thus hopefully inch closer to mastering the ground cut :) Thanks again for taking your time! hope you have a nice weekend :-D
