Least favorite is V since I like the dopamine sword slashing gives me. Most favorite is between Nero and Vergil.
That's why I said for me tho. Vergil is very strange with staying in the air since he literally only has the yamato as effective dmg source outside of jump canceling beowulf.
Dante can easily stay in the air for infinite amounts of time .. if you can utilize trickster with jump cancels and air taunt. Which is... hard xD.
Nero however is very easy to combo stuff in the air just because of the ability to snatch stuff and gerbera arm ofc. Especially after you completed the game one time. Nero becomes pretty great if you wanna utilize air combos to the fullest.
But thats just me. Since I suck with exceeds he still is pretty limiting for me on dante must die.
Dante and Vergil are both better in the air than Nero is and can do WAY more, Nero is just the easiest character to play.
Playing as Virgil is another story.
Dante is fun enough, but he doesn't have Virgil's good timing.
V is having to juggle three beasts at once. Can be hard to keep up with. V also has to get the killing blow. You're basically having to use two attacks at once. Easy to learn but hard to master.
I'd say my play experience was very similar to this; Nero felt super easy to pick up, V was my first SSS, Dante is incredibly fun, and my preferred character, once you get the weapons and stuff down and Vergil is just cool
Only thing Vergil's missing is Royal Guard. Storm is approaching / 10
Dante's gunslinger somehow got worse from 4 to 5, but he finally clicked for me in this game. 8/10
V is a failure of an experiment, but I can't help but appreciate the effort the devs put into it, and it's always nice to see a company try a gamble.
Nero was a disappointment in 4 and he still is in 5. Lots of ending lag after attacks, limited moveset, Exceed doesn't feel rewarding, prosthetic arms are an interesting gimmick but are really only useful for getting out of grabs (I only ever get grabbed as Nero though)
If you think Devil Breakers are "only useful for getting out of grabs" then you fundamentally just don't understand how Nero works. They have insane movement applications, combo potential, damage output, etcetera. They're the most important part of his entire kit and the addition of them alone made him a much more diverse and interesting character than he was in 4.
bru he was never unfinished, the game is more designed around him than dante
nero plays more like dmc 1 dante than dante 4 and on does in many respect
nero is infusing dmc 1 dante play style back in the game, dante is from dmc 3 on
You are insane comparing DMC 4 Nero to DMC 1 Dante. They're not even remotely similar at all.
And yes Nero in DMC 4 felt like a very unfinished character (because he was unfinished, along with everything else in DMC 4).
