Well some people do want 'story' in their 'gameplay', else it just becomes a madhouse of random sheet on the screen for you to deal with. Taking things away from players that were there before should be a choice, not a forced 'update'.
It's been happening since DMC3, so I've just learned to live with it by banging out some levels then play some story segments via gallery after lol
It sucks tho, the way this DLC is made. Quite literally a "playable character" with no story whatsoever. Super lazy I'd say. It would be so cool to see Vergils side of the story but, as I don't really play for the story in my games nowadays, I'm fine with it as it is.
