Yeah that's gameplay, the point is that he's on the verge of death and the dimension heals him enough to go on, not that it actually fixed him
just... "I'm healed enough to need a shoulder to hold AND a cane to walk" doesn't feels like he's healed any more than he already was in the prior mission

Later, V quotes a poetry from William Blake:

14 mission, shows the fortitude of V, and gameplay is the final fight V (Boss rush). All this is important.
infact... it could be argued that before V talked to Trish, he was doing well enough to read Urizen, only when he set foot on the Qliphod that he begins to degrade, it kinda feels like they forgot that Vegil was near death before getting the Yamato and after that cutscene they needed to put that anywhere in the story
The point of what V said isn't that they are both near death.
The point is that for all his power, Urizen is still weak.
you could as well say that V was just too weak to use Sparda and if that "i'm the side of Vergil that stuck with the corruption" scene with Trish, was not a thing, V would made to the top of Qliphod without problem
at any point you could say "this is were V started Degrading" and be right or wrong, but you also say "it's because it's too weak"
on a sidenote, Griphon kept saying if V dies, they die too, and while V "technically" didn't died, the still were alive without V, again, it could be argued that Nightmare was keeping them alive with he's demon powers, but you could also say that they still had their own on demon power left and were degrading faster than V after he disappeared
