Which games to start playing with?
Hey, i've been eyeing with the series for a while, watched bunch of story summarized videos, and what not. Which games do you think i should play with if i mostly care about the gameplay?

Gameplay for a beginner? 5, easy

1 since it's most simple for someone new or 3 which is cannonically first one and is an absolute blast.Skip 2 ,it's just bad.

Thank you! Whats your opinion of DMC4?

You should play 4 too as it directly ties into 5. Just do 3,1,4 and skip 2.

3's best place to start. 3, 4, then 5.
skip 1 and 2. and DmC.

1 is a good game and still relevant to the story. The reason I told him to skip 2 is because it's a bad game and means almost nothing to the story.

Skip Devil may cry 2 and DmC.

Jumping into 5 first is entirely viable. It might seem to be a little overwhelming (because so many options are given quickly), but it's arguably better balanced for that learning curve.

If you are going to play every game in the series, i would say play them in order.

If you are only going to play one, and then see if you want to play more, then i would recommend 5 first, then choosing based on whichever's trailer appeals to you the most.

if you mostly care about gameplay, i would say go with dmc5, or maybe dmc3.
dmc5 is imo the easiest to get into, and its also not as difficult as dmc3, though you are probably gonna have problems understanding the story, altough there is a recap of what happened so far.

dmc3 is relatively welcoming too, since it doesnt bash you over the head with multiple characters and stuff like style-switching, but as a game its definitely harder than 5. it also serves as a prequel to the entire series, so if you still kinda care about story, this could make sense too.

though be warned if you decide to play dmc3 first, you should definitely get the hd collection (contains dmc 1, 2 and 3) instead of the standalone version of dmc3, since the standalone is a buggy, laggy mess for a lot of players.

DMC4 despite its minor nuances (puzzles like gyroblades, dice game and forced backtracking) is still a solid game and is good choice before proceeding to 5.Though as above posts says,if you're only gonna play one game go with 5 since it's best overall especially in terms of gameplay .

play 1 and 3.

skip 2 and 4.

only skip 2..
1 is its own game and definitely worth checking out
3,4,5 are all worth it. Best to play these games in release order
You could also try DmC. It's not relevant anymore, but hey, maybe you vibe with it, and reboot Vergil is actually a pretty fun character to play as, but that's a conversation most aren't ready to have yet, because they still think that V is a good action game character.

Also i've seen that PC hasn't got the DMC5 Special Edition. Do you think they will release it on steam in the future? Should i wait for the SE, or it's just the same as buying 5+DLCs?

I've watched some DMC gameplay, and a bunch of reviews. I really disliked by watching it. Dialoges were cringey, Dante wasnt funny, he's just repeating "♥♥♥♥ YOU" a million times. Did not make me want to buy it. Also heard that getting good scores/ranks only requires high damage output, and the ranking doesn't care about skill (styling your combos).
