V's Devil Trigger input is also auto attack in the controls, but for some reason when I press it my summons don't... you know, auto attack.
I presume both are bound to the same button, just pressing the button I assume should let my summons auto attack, but if I press it and one of my summon attack buttons it powers them up.
So why aren't they auto attacking? Do I need to hold down Devil Trigger input? Or is it a toggle?

Shadow and Griffon usually auto attack when I send them into devil trigger. It's 'Q' for me plus left or right mouse

When they're empowered, they auto attack. I just tested this, the button on its own does nothing, I have to empower a summon for them to auto attack. However, Re-binding Devil Trigger in the Options > Controls, it's called "auto attack" and the description of it on the right, says "Order V's pet demons to enter auto-attack mode."

The wording on this implies that auto attack is a toggle of some kind that just lets your pets mindlessly attack. This is not what happens, however. If they just left it being called "Devil Trigger" and saying that in conjunction with a pet button (Shadow for Y, Griffon for X) it empowers them and lets them auto attack this would not be nearly as confusing.
Buh. You literally skipped every tutorial didnt you? For all of your topics, the answers to your questions were all mentioned when you first get the tutorial, and accessible to read again in the pause menu.

Not from what I found. I'm asking these because I didn't see them in the game anywhere. That and Lock-On doesn't mention the fact that it requires the player to not be moving.

You shouldn't be using auto attack anyway. The whole point of V is to control everything at once.

i believe pressing L2 instead of L1 (or equivalents) + the associated familiar button (square for griffon, triangle for shadow with a PS controller) puts them into DT, and pressing it again makes them start auto attacking.

Using DT on V's minions to make them autoattack is useful

Why would they put in a feature where empowering your familiars with DT makes them auto-attack if you aren't supposed to use it?

I'm just pointing out what I feel to be an inconsistency with the game, or at the very least something that's poorly explained/badly worded in game

You can still control your summons while DT is active, it just fills in the space when you're not controlling them with automatic attacks.

Auto attack certainly works for fighting triple Fury in bloody palace, while staring off screen
