That is a very detailed explanation of dodging in this game, thanks.
An opinion is always subjective.
I don't think what i was saying was an opinion, but a fact. If i am getting hit by something that didn't touch me, that is factually a bad design.
Considering how many people love this game and have absolutely no issue with its dodge mechanics (actually the only ones having issues are the one that never played a DMC game before), it's deffinitelly not a fact.
Dante can block. It's in the game, it's just not a mechanic Nero gets access to. Nero makes up for it by having a much stronger air game than Dante. Nero is more focused on an offensive defense, using tools such as payline and hardway and shuffle to keep the fight going even as enemies attack him.
Dante, once you get him, is vastly more evasive, with teleports and trickster's dashes (which are the invincibility frame filled dodges you want), but pays for it in other areas.
Also, a properly timed sword slash will parry weapon attacks from enemies.
This is footage from the Xbox exclusive demo where you can't buy moves and you only have the standard dodge
Same level btw
I guess that could be considered bs hitboxes too, but i think dodging could be much better still, and if dodging worked, the hitboxes wouldn't matter either, but find i will say the hitboxes are bad too. lol But the "you are just bad" is not an argument.
Dante sounds like tons of fun then.
Very weird since i got hit by the enemies attacks exactly where he was standing at, but didn't hit him even though he didn't even dodge at times. Very inconsistent indeed. Guess the full game after the demo made his hitbox worse or something.
He makes tradeoffs in other areas. Nero's air game is far more robust with dashes and such. Dante doesn't have Nero's ability to drag enemies about either, so he can't pull fresh enemies up to the safety of the sky, and he also doesn't get Nero's I-frame attack options.
Both are powerful in their own right, but you will find yourself missing things that the other has when you play either. Such as Dante's rocket launcher and block, or Nero's ability to pull enemies around.
I could recreate this ♥♥♥♥ easy peasy
