Major Performance & Stability Issues - After Latest PATCH! (Updated APRIL 1st)
Hey,
I noticed that as soon as I played after the new mysterious patch - the performance and overall stability suffered greatly:

1) I get many major FPS drops in various locations especially while exploring and combat. I was used to mostly steady 60 fps - but now I spend a lot of time in the 50s.

2) I had short full freezes and hangs - that released after a while. Sometimes as slideshow out of no where.

3) I also noticed extreme CPU usage during said drops: with the CPU reaching 9-100% load. That lasted around a minute after the freezes finish.

4) Overall there are many new stutters that weren't there before. Especially in combat with many effects and enemies in later levels. (From midway onward). And in exploration also - like mission 15 (horrible performance and huge dips and stutters).

5) Lower GPU utilization! This is very troubling.
I'm using Vsync and my GPU more often than not have lower than full utilization and lower than maximum clocks.
Meaning:
1300mhz-1500mhz Core and 3300-3500mhz memory and 60-75% load.
Instead of full 1900-2000 Mhz Core and 5800Mhz Memory at 90+ load.

6) The CPU usage also increased more than before.
I usually had 10-30% with spikes to 40-50% but now it's significantly higher. Reaching 50+ more often (and GPU usage dropping to 70s more often too)
Playing at full 4K with 1080Ti and i5-3570k.

7) Finally - I had a single hard crash to desktop.

Never really had any of these issues before.

I should note that I also updated Window 10 to 1809 the same day the new DMC5 vague (Denuvo?) patch arrived.

Anyone else encountered these? Or notice a tangible performance and stability decline?

*CAPCOM INSTEAD OF OPTIMIZE YOUR GAME FURTHER AND GIVE US MORE OPTIONS TO TWEAK - YOU MADE IT MUCH MUCH WORSE!
FIX THE PC VERSION ASAP!*

Yes, framerate issues and worse loading times. My save data wasn't working either but I managed to fix that with the denuvo-less crack. The game was running fine before the patch but after patching, it's just worse.
Denuvo is just cancer. I don't know why it's forced upon every single game nowadays. At this point I have no faith that the game will run properly the next time I load it up, even with the crack, because who knows what the next patch will do. Capcom needs to fix this ♥♥♥♥ themselves and tell denuvo to shove it. Nobody likes it, it only harms your system, and no one gets to have fun. I didn't pre-order the deluxe edition to have a broken game.
yeah after this patch my game crashes everytime i try to play it now, never had this issue till now

Glad that at least I'm not the only one.
Although it's no relief knowing the issue is severe. If Capcom don't do anything and fix it soon - we might end up with all the bad performance issies, freezes, crashes, stutters, fps drops and other stability issues - forever.

It's been really 2 weeks since the game released and as of yet not a single Performance Optimization Patch from the Developers.
Instead we get a SNEAKY suspicious update that does WAY MORE HARM then fixing and improving anything else.

This is unaccessible.
The release version needed better PC support and further Optimization. As well as more Options to toggle (like AA Off, DoF) and set (like Volumetric Lights Medium).
HDR toggle and more.

And that should listen to their fans already and remove this damn Denuvo DRM!

Not to mention Cameo System is completely broken and RUINS the FPS. Even offline.

I made this thread for Capcom and DMC Crew to hopefully see this and prepare a fix - so please everyone dump here as many issues as you can !

I don't have a Denuvo less exe.
What happens if I just seller those files?
I don't want to temper with unsafe unofficial stuff...
Saya Mar 20, 2019 @ 9:51am
Its actually official exe for testers, but without denuvo. just google for it.

I won't download it unless it's 1000% safe source. I heard stories.
That's not a real fix too.

If you can provide a link from a real safe source, I might give it a try.

But still, we need a REAL solution. And it's important everyone keep reporting issues here

And we can't stay with some outdated exe version of the game.
I had very bad experience from downloading from unofficial sources. It's an easy hackable window. And who knows how else it may mess with the game.

Yeah, I played some this morning, and the performance was terrible, and got stuck on a loading screen.

Yes, exactly, this stuff is dangerous.
I wish Capcom would do something for the consumers who already bought the game, but instead we have to search for fixes online and download shady .exes and fixes like criminals.
MonkeyBone Mar 20, 2019 @ 10:41am
I hate to be "that guy" but I haven't noticed anything different at all, did a few stages including a few rounds of farming on Mission 13 and didn't have a single issue. Sorry I'm not being terribly helpful but perhaps my experience serves as an example it's not happening to everyone. For refrence my build is an i5 3570k @ 4.2ghz, 16gb ram, GTX1080 overclocked only slightly, and it's running from a standard 2tb HDD.

Exactly. Finally someone says it right!
I freaking Pre-ordered bought the Deluxe Edition!
The mere action of buying and registering the digital key through steam is proof enough.
From that point any counter piracy is utter anti consumer ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It's both useless and harmful.
You already have our hard earned money Capcom ! And most of the buyers here are dedicated fans who waited wishfully for many years for this sequel.

Who care for a few idiotic pirates - these scumbag criminals may go to hell!
We who bought it lawfully and play officially shouldn't be punished.
It's not like their country theft measures stop piracy. Just ruins the experience for everyone.

At the very least make it a 1 time validate check - then remove the bloody DRM and it's performance damage!

DMC4 was flawlessly smooth, polished and non DRM BS from the get go back in 2008. Like it should be.

How do you know it has anything to do with DRM? The version before also used the same DRM and ran fine.

Funny, because I have pretty much the exact same build: same CPU, RAM but with GTX 1080 Ti OC + 1080ti SSD
And my performance went from:
"pretty great" (could have been better if Capcom/DMC Developers released a Performance Optimization patch!!!
To - "pretty TERRIBLE!"
It's extremely easy to notice

Mind you I do play on 4K native. So every little performance issue is very noticeable, impactful and significant.
And every bit of FPS is precious.

All these 7 issues I listed above- are new since yesterday's patch.

I don't think it's *only* DRM being strengthened. It's probably that and more. The issues if deeper. The last version wasn't very perfect either and had it's issue.
See above

You don't know what happened no one other than Capcom does. Everyone is just raging for nothing. If there is an issue which I doubt, I'm sure Capcom will fix it soon.

In the meantime try and force a version of DirectX to run. I think that 11 runs much better than 12. At the moment the game automatically chooses unless you force it in the configuration file.
