Are taunts useless in this game?
They are like 30 seconds long and don't even give you style meter?
Or is that where EX provocation comes in?

Taunts need to have gone past a certain point in their animations to give you the stylish points, the game also asks you to not spam them as if you do to much in a row, you won't even gain stylish points anymore. This is why air taunts are great because they're faster than grounded ones and you can do them mid-combos no problem.

Taunts seem to be very slow in this game. Slower than in DMC4. And much slower than in DMC3. However air taunts are much faster... And also give additional benefits... Making normal taunts EVEN WORSE in comparison. :(

They give a style boost when used but it only last for a few seconds and their is a CD on when you'll gain the boost again. Its best used when your in the air so you can cancel it immediately and continue whatever it is that your doing.

Nero's is useful in that it'll occasionally give you Exceed and Dante's extends his combo and stops his style points from going down for a second.

V playing the violin will give him a style boost throughout the entire taunt.

Air taunts are the easiest for devil trigger, ground taunts give nice amounts of style.

ground taunts are garbage because you'll actually start LOSING style meter by the end of the animation unless you cancel it
