pay to win game!
i see many people arguing against the idea that this game is pay to win but it literally is the text book definition of pay to win.

you can spend real life money to buy red orbs which unlock abilities and revives for easy gameplay, especially at higher difficulties. you can pay for gold orbs which are a revive so you dont have to start the level over again. plus you can pay for stronger weapons like neros devil breaker arms, especially one that allows you to cycle between your devil breaker arms without having to destroy them...

so my question is this: why are you all ok with these type of shady/evil practices by game studios? being a dmc fanboy shouldnt prevent you from having standards and saying "NO" to pay to win and lootbox tier trash.

But revives lowers your ranking, so it's pay 2 lose. As all DMC fans know, win = high rank, not clearing the mission.

Allowing people to win without paying must be costing Capcom a small fortune! I'm sure they'll put a stop to it in DMC6.

Heh, it's not like many people are actually complaining. PC gamers seem to accept anything, don't they?

Once you unlock Dr Faust, microtransactions are pointless, not that they were ever useful in the first place, red orbs drop like candy... Also it's best to restart the missions, or use checkpoints if you're lazy.

people save their gold orbs for the final boss in higher difficulties or random trash mobs that are very hard/before a checkpoint...its not pay to lose when you can revive and finish off an enemy or boss wtf is wrong with you

You can easily CE orbs, it's not like they force the game online so you can't cheat orbs. There's also a really good farming method to earn orbs the legit way in minutes. Also you can spend all the money in the world and you will still suck at the game, because you lack skills.

so waste time farming orbs from mobs or just buy a ton with real money from the store :steamfacepalm:

Great. Ciara, we've done this song and dance.

Here's how it works. Orbs are given based on your ranking after a mission, with S-rank scores being showered in a deluge of 20-30k+ bonus orbs. Enemies drop more orbs if killed at a higher style ranking.

Gold orbs are capped, you cannot purchase very many. You can gain orbs from being rated as stylish by other players. The best way to be rated as stylish is to do cool ♥♥♥♥ when they can see you running your mission in parallel to them.

Utilizing any sort of revive kills your score. S-ranks are where a lot of your profit comes from, so if you are spending orbs to revive, you are not making profit.

The reason I am okay with it is because there is one, and only one strong argument for buying red orbs. That argument is that you played DMC4 and are intimately familiar with how Nero and Dante play and just want their full movelist right now so you can get into learning the new stuff. This is fine, because the alternative is you get them by just playing the game. For people like you, that means you should never buy orbs. For people like donguri, who has thousands of hours in DMC4, there's actually a strong case for them, as the sooner they get the new stuff, the sooner they can get up to crazy combo crafting, and they don't need the help.

Personally, I often start levels over again if I even get hit, because I've got an S-rank on every mission on DH, and perfects on several and want perfects on every mission for those big shiny 5 digit scores.

Waste hard earned money, or earn about 200K in five minutes? Or 2 minutes in cheat engine? It takes a little bit of thinking to know which is easier.
>Argues game is pay to win
>Game penalizes your rank for using any sort of revive in any mission

what does rank matter on highest difficulty, the point is beating the game not rank
