Heh, it's not like many people are actually complaining. PC gamers seem to accept anything, don't they?
Here's how it works. Orbs are given based on your ranking after a mission, with S-rank scores being showered in a deluge of 20-30k+ bonus orbs. Enemies drop more orbs if killed at a higher style ranking.
Gold orbs are capped, you cannot purchase very many. You can gain orbs from being rated as stylish by other players. The best way to be rated as stylish is to do cool ♥♥♥♥ when they can see you running your mission in parallel to them.
Utilizing any sort of revive kills your score. S-ranks are where a lot of your profit comes from, so if you are spending orbs to revive, you are not making profit.
The reason I am okay with it is because there is one, and only one strong argument for buying red orbs. That argument is that you played DMC4 and are intimately familiar with how Nero and Dante play and just want their full movelist right now so you can get into learning the new stuff. This is fine, because the alternative is you get them by just playing the game. For people like you, that means you should never buy orbs. For people like donguri, who has thousands of hours in DMC4, there's actually a strong case for them, as the sooner they get the new stuff, the sooner they can get up to crazy combo crafting, and they don't need the help.
Personally, I often start levels over again if I even get hit, because I've got an S-rank on every mission on DH, and perfects on several and want perfects on every mission for those big shiny 5 digit scores.
Waste hard earned money, or earn about 200K in five minutes? Or 2 minutes in cheat engine? It takes a little bit of thinking to know which is easier.
>Game penalizes your rank for using any sort of revive in any mission
