How do I use this Targetting System?
I'm fighting Artemis is and I'm trying to shoot the little goobers she shoots at so I can use them to grapple, but Nero keeps targeting the same one, even when the other one is closer, and even when the boss herself is closer. I've tried unlocking and relocking, using the built in target switch mechanic (Which doesn't seem to work past a certain range, a range that the orbs stay outside of, so that doesn't work), trying to shoot them without locking on. Is there something else I'm supposed to be doing?

This is extremely frustrating, and I can't help but feel like it's not my fault. It's sort of like Hard Time's aiming where your character just chooses a random target in front of you. I can't stand when I feel like my commands aren't being registered in a game.

What am I doing wrong?

if xbox controller push R bumper or R1 ps4 just push it and let it go when locking a new enemy u only hold the button if u want to continue fighting that perticular enemy and if u want to change let the button go and lock on someone new.

Like I said in my post, that isn't working.

use auto mod, don't press lock target, just press fire gun
I also mentioned that that isn't working in my post.

Have you try Left sticks with Left bumper, left sticks to the direction of the enemies you want..i have same problem as you early on..took me quite a bit to get use to enemy direction
IIRC it was right stick while locked-on, it's a bit of a weird input but that worked for me
Mine is set to the left stick, and I found out I can only do it while standing still. It was really frustrating fighting Artemis like this. :etghunter:

Don't rely too much on grapples. Instead use Nero's other tools for crossing distances like Calibur->Hard Way->Payline

This was about the lock-on system, not grappling.

You said that you need the lockon to utilize grapples.
I'm telling you that you shouldn't even be using grapples in the first place.

I wasn't even getting as far as the grapples.

I'm talking about Nero continually relocking on the same one I already killed, while the other one is still shooting me, and the boss is still flying around.
The change target button doesn't work if you're moving. Stand still for a moment then hit it. I just used the manual camera to semi focus on the target I intended and it always seemed to work for me.

You can switch targeting using the left analog

So, if you are using a controller, then to switch targets, press L3 when locked on while being stationary. Otherwise, you will have to let go of R1/RB and press the button again to lock on to the closest target.
