V's pets are the DMC1 Demons
After V merges with Urizen and turns back to Vergil, Dante encounters V's allies and wants to kill Dante. However, according to Griffon, he claims they are from Vergil's thoughts when he was Nelo Angelo, because of this, they are literally based on the demons Dante fought in DMC1. Nelo Angelo was thinking about mundus's demons and literally have the same name and their attacks.

For V's Griffon, instead of a small demon raven looking bird, the real Griffon a giant multi headed demon bird with lighting attacks just like V's Griffon. hell they even have similar attacks. V's Shadow is based on the actual Shadow mini boss, again same attacks by shapeshifting but it looks more like a lion instead of a panther. Hell, when Mudus's shadow is weakened, it turns into an orb just like V's pets. Finally, Nightmare. He is based on the Nightmare boss in DMC1 but he is mostly different compared to the others. Instead of being a walking blob behemoth, the real Nightmare is just a regular blob. V's Nightmare doesn't have that much attacks from the real Nightmare. V's Nightmare just mostly punches you and shoot explosive lasers while the real one just summons turrets from its body and homing projectiles, but the only attack they both have is the giant laser beam. This game is really the best DMC. What are your thoughts guys ?

ANYONE that played the original noticed this obvious tie in...still wish nightmare was the blob though, would have been awesome to see.

Was great to see at first. Shadow was my favourite encounter in DMC 1.

It's not a spoiler in any shape or form. It's clear right from the start. Well It wasn't clear to me but that's because I didn't make the obvious connection. Had I played DMC1 recently I would have noticed it immediately.

I wished Nightmare had more moves to screw around with.The homing projectiles he had in DMC1 woulda been sick.
