I got a 970 and i could run RE2 with everything on ultra, with shadows on medium instead of high, just like you specified. Don't worry, the game will be more optimized than most of the stuff they've made so far

problem with that 970 is that the VRAM is VERY SLOW when reaching more than 3GB. YOU WILL REACH ALMOST full VRAM in modern games no matter the settings. Upgrade to a at least 6-8 GB card.

It will be close in DMC5 to get over 60 FPS at all times.

i think that if you can run resident evil 2 well, you could prob run this well aswell, althou theres more special effects and movement in this game, so its hard to say, if its gonna be the same. but a gtx 970 should be able to run this fine.

I think 3.5 of VRAM from the 970 is GDDR5 and the rest 0.5 is GDDR3 (which is slower )from what i think, so yes you are corect here. But I've played most late 2018 and early 2019 games and I've never ran out of VRAM except when setting the shadow quality on high or ultra (no clue why that happens though)

i think your GPU will do fine at 60fps maybe some tweak, if you willing to upgrade your GPU try to buy nitro+ rx 570 8gb or other rx 570 with 8gb ram and you get free 2 games from amd this is just my opinion btw.

Considering that the games runs at native 4K 60fps on the Xbox One X (most game can't do that), I'm expecting this game to be rather light on PCs too. Your 970 will do jsut fine, you only need to change settings to stay under 3.5GB VRAM to avoid stuttering. Resident Evil 7 uses the same enigne and runs almost exactly the same on console. So using the RE7 demo is the closest you can get to DMC5 now and should give you a pretty good estimate of how the game is going to run.

You'll be able to play it just fine, look at the graphics, not a big deal.
