DmC : Devil May Cry vs Devil May Cry 5 (Combat Mechanic)
Well, in this topic we don't discuss about lore, story wise, world design, level design, graphic, fan service, character design, music score, character look, voice acting, soundtrack, dante haircut, dante hair color, dante this, dante that or everything else except COMBAT MECHANIC.

Which one is the best between that two games !?

Honestly, I like DmC more than DMC 5 ... because those Angelic / Devilish weapon swap. And there is enemy that can kill with only angelic weapon or vice versa. And yes, in DmC there is no lock on. But it is not a big problem for me because of grapling hook and one button evade.

In DMC 5, V is easiest character to get SSS rank ... and it just a button mashing. Nero is powerful, and moderate moveset to playing. And Dante with complicated moveset, but I've can stay at swordmaster / trickster playstyle than everything else. We can choose what playstyle that we like while playing as dante, and yes it can be versatile but we can choose just 1 than playing another playstyle. But, in DmC ...some enemies must be killed by angelic / devilish weapon and that force player to be versatile as soon as possible.

Well, what about you guys !?

Sorry but i prefer not being forced to change my weapons to kill an enemy. I like to take my time learning the different weapons at my own pace while progressing through the game. The no lock on was annoying but i can handle that. Color coded enemies? Thats a big no no for me.

Wrong. It restricts versatility since you now can't utilize all your weapons to juggle the enemies as you please.

Nothing beats Dante's Style Switch for me, so of course I prefer DMC 5. This brings you so many combinations and different ways to play, I high recommend you to play using all styles and keep changing them in the middle of the combos instead of using just one. Just watch some Donguri videos to know what I'm talking about, it's insane the things you can do.

I really hated DmC, but the music was fine, and the gameplay... well, I didn't liked at all, the combos and moves was too easy for me, I could easily do insane combos and stay in the air for a long time easily, and I didn't liked the weapon changes while holding one button, and also hated the "red and blue type enemies" that needed to be killed by a certain type of weapon, this limited the combat way too much.

that's my opinion anyway.

Well it's easily the worst in terms of gameplay. It's not just color coded enemies, the combat lacks depths, it's very floaty, enemies are uninteresting, gravity kills you even though there are flying enemies, angel/demon weapons are lame.

Is that even a question xD. 5 is obviously better.

You just understood him wrong... You have to look it from a different and more casual viewpoint. A casual player will probably just stick into one weapon and only two or three moves. Having an enemy that forces you to use different weapons and moves will make their gameplay more varied. He says that "we can choose just 1 style" so he probably isnt much experienced.

But then for top 10% or idk I'm just making up numbers yes you're right color coded enemies are limiting and make the gameplay anything but fun.

That's what the style meter is for.
And even then, lowering the skill ceiling just to appease to casuals is one of the worst things you can do

I think colour coding enemies added depth but it's superficial. It's the kind of depth that I think most people enjoy but at the hardcore level it only removes options. I also felt like no lock on worked fine. I think DmC was successful combat system the bridged accessibility and the depth of DMC3-4. The one thing I miss about DmC was the characters, Dante and Vergil had character arcs and all the characters have some motivations even the bosses. We're back to introducing a boss with a couple of lines and then fighting them.

Vergil has an arc in the reboot xD. What arc? He went from being there to suddenly being the final boss with no build up xD.and that’s not even when I compare to the actual developed Vergil in 3.

I'll agree with that, about dante style switch. And it was a plus. There is so much combination for that. It can be versatile, and it is a choice. I like dante very much than other character in DMC 5. But, the other char lack depth especially V ... it is just not fun for me with button mashing while playing as him.

Button mashing is a legit way to use V. Well if you don't want to experiment with his moves that is. I legit like him more than Dante. Nero still best with all his different arms.
