Dante S rank tips & style point stuff?
I just played a mission with Dante using only the Cavaliere, and even though I was getting SS and SSS in pretty much every fight, the end result ended up giving me only an A for the stage (mission 10). However, I noticed that I was getting less Style points than I did as Nero and V (on average around 3300-3800 per fight as opposed to 4600-5000+) despite getting those S ranks in fights. Does he just get less style points? Or is the Cavaliere just not viable for style?

U're supposed to mix stuff up with dante not only use 1 weapon try using more of them and u get way more style points than Nero

That's sorta what I'm asking, do you get penalized for using just 1 weapon? Since I was still getting high style ranks, but the style points displayed at the end were pretty low.

no you dont.

Im trying to wrap my head around how the ♥♥♥♥ dante works here.

here is the thing. in the beginning of mission 12 to use it for an example. you face 3 hell cainas right off the bat right?

ok so there is a way to get 6000 stylish points on these guys and there is a way to get 3000 points.

the 3k points way is to just start hacking on em the whole time avoiding their hits and make sure you are using different weapons. sounds cool and correct right?

ok how do we get 6k points then?

switch to Royal guard. get enough royal blocks to reach S or SS. then switch to sword, fire up DT, and deplete their HPs while your rank is high and stuck at SSS. make sure not take away any of their HPs while your rank is low.

BOOM! 6k points for this part!

then ♥♥♥♥ gets weirder. the next corner you turn, you face that red assassin monster.

here are my interactions with this f**ker. dodge everything and hit when he is open at a A stylish rank. get 3.6k at the end of the fight.

take damage like a mofo, but do some royal blocks here and there, prolong the fight a bit (i dont know wtf im doing at this point) take damage, do some revenge moves. thats back + RG style

take some more damage, rank goes to ♥♥♥♥. kill him on the next opening...

4.7k points...

i dont know wtf is going on man.

I'm sure the royal guard thing is viable and spamming taunts and getting a high style before even doing anything, but it should be perfectly possible to get high points without having to spend ages doing no damage in fights. My first playthrough was on Human difficulty, and I was getting S ranks on stages just playing normally, alternating between Rebellion and Balrog. But now on my second time through, I felt like I was doing a lot better in terms of getting ranks with using the Cavaliere, and still the points were lacking and end score was lower...

I hate Cavaliere. i always ditch it. i roll with the other 3. cavaliere just doesnt work for me...

I did most of my first playthrough using only Rebellion & Balrog, so I'm trying to switch it up for this one.

This is actually incredibly frustrating. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Varying up the weapons doesn't seem to make a difference at all.

i just did a run with devil sword dante and E&I, just these 2, on the first encounter of mission 10, i managed to get a varying score from 4.7k to 5.8k.

i keep restarting to see how much better i can do. this last run was mixed sword and guns.

meaning at some point i ditched the sword and tried pure ebony and ivory, i still got about 5.3k points...

I-am-confused.

just did a full run for mission 10 with guns and Devil sword dante. got a new high score. but still no S. i think im close though.

pulling off royal guard just releases boosts the score alot, i was recently just messing around in a mission where i used only it and the pistols, even though it took like forever and i got hit ALOT, i still got an S at the end because i pulled it off quite a few times

I wonder why other characters don't have this problem. Nobody else has to try and gimmick boost their style score like that...

Ok so i did a final "test" if you will to rule out a few things

i was thinking that maybe have more weapons on you and not using them caused the score to not get higher, and thats why i did the 1 sword 1 gun run, but no thats not a thing. having all the weapons equipped and using only 2 still nets you the same amount of points.

varying the weapons does nothing.

so i think its all about keeping that score high and keep hitting. though i noticed one thing.

insta killer moves like for example real impact with balrog waste a lot of points. you need moves that hit and dont stop hitting like million stabs and honeycomb shooter etc. thats my final guess.

the more you vary your move sets by swapping on the fly the easier it is to get sss as well as the timing of your combos

Mission 12 was giving me B's everywhere even though I had S's and SSS in nearly every fight ._.

So, I also noticed that mission 10 and 12 were being really stingy with the style points - netting me around 3300-3700 on average, whereas the same performance as Nero or V would give me 4400-4800+.. But then on stage 11, playing exactly as I did 10 and 12, it gave me similar scores as Nero/V and an S at the end. I don't get it at all.

Maybe you gotta use his style-specific moves (swordmaster, gunslinger, royal guard, trickster) to get more stylish points? idk just a guess
