This game lags
I have a new MSI laptop with i7 and GeForce GTX1060, 16 GB RAM and it is not enough to run this game smootly? I already put the settings down to middle and it still lags! I am reathinking to get my money back and get this game for PS4. Also the lip synchro is totally off sometimes, especially with Morrison.

the 1060 is not enough to run it at decent settings on 60fps, the only option you have left is to reduce resolution to 80% or so, 70% to be on the save side.

I get a pretty steady 60 fps with a GTX 1060 6GB, i5 4440, and 12GB of RAM; and this is with I would say mostly high settings (I turned down shadows). The RE Engine is pretty well optimized. Is there anything running in the background which may be causing it to lag?

You play on PC, aka better hardware.

Lol Denuvo.

Online component - that thing can and will drag down your FPS when you finish the fight, so you must have strong CPU to support that.
But since cameo is pretty useless, there is not much point in using online, so turn it off in options and have fun.

You get golden orbs if people give you a thumbs up.

I didn't even realize there was an online aspect of the game until I saw it say it was starring someone. I figured it was largely for leader boards or something akin to that. I'll have to pay more attention to that as it comes up, I'm only 3 hours in and so far it hasn't been intrusive.

Nope, nothing in the background. I also restarted the laptop, nothing changed

That's a shame :(

I know that Nvidia released the drivers for the game, having a new laptop I presume that was all updated.

Hopefully you haven't gone past the two hours, that way you can still refund it and get it on PS4.

i run this 60fps on 4k with a 1080, with dips on cutscenes, you should be able to 60fps this on a 1080 on 1440p/1080p easily.

gtx 1080 i7 9700k and 32gb ram and i get large fps drops from 140fps to 35fps ~_~

Forget textures. Reduce shadows. That impacts the GPU most and GPU is almost always the bottleneck that causes lag. Also make sure your framerate is not locked to 60 in settings but set to "variable".

You can set textures to medium or high and antialiasing to maximum and it wont impact performance, but putting shadows on medium or low is huge.

Finally if all else fails, in your graphic card settings there is usually a setting for "quality vs. performance" optimisation. Set it to max performance (its usually set to quality).

Weird, I have 120-250fps with my ryzen 7 2700, 16gb and rx vega 64 with everything set to ultra except Render Scaling (100%). 1080p. I think you didn't install your drivers properly.
And this is with Denuvo btw, AMD driver 19.3.1
