Script or mod to have Nero's charge shot auto-charge when not being fired?
I have Blue Rose on LB right now, but I find holding it down all the time makes it harder to do exceed and there's not really any reason to not always be holding it down. If there were a script to make being held down its default behaviour that would be perfect.

There's reason to not want it down all the time. But of course, that reason assumes you're INTERESTED in comboing, instead of just smashing everything as fast as possible.

Once you get Charge Shot, that reason matters.

I don't see why a power shot would be better than a charge shot in combos. The extremely rare scenario that might be the case isn't worth not having it held down as an option.

Charge shots will launch an enemy higher. Regular color-up shots do not launch, they hold. Plain un-charged shots still just air-stun with no hold and no launch.

Having seperate access to all of those if possible is nice.

I think a good compromise would be to have the charged shots store without having to keep the button held down. You can currently only store two shots but then have to fire the third as soon as you release it. Allowing you to release the button without firing would be nice.

tbh there are so many ways nero can launch. You don't need to hold down the launching bullet for eternity just reload and cancel so you dont have to hold it down the whole time.

Just slash with your sword and let go of X as you let go of Y. It's not perfect, but it works.

You can change your controls further to make 'em more comfortable.
I currently have Nero set to play like this, on an Xbox controller:
A - Jump
X - Attack
Y - Breaker
B - Unused / ?
RB - Shoot / Charge Shot
RT - Lock on
LB - Exceed
LT - Unused / (Was DT in DMC4SE, putting break away here may make more sense for you)
D-Pad - Break Away

I always used LT as Devil Trigger in DMC4 so I keep pushing it out of muscle memory but keep wasting my arms so that helps to have it somewhere I don't usually touch. This setup lets me Exceed and charge shots just fine at the same time, the only real finnicky thing I worry about is charging the arm while attacking, but you can hold one button and tap the other with your thumb to make it manageable.

Appreciate the advice, but not what I was asking for.

Some steam users in games like this are just like redditors for being not helpful cause sh*t like "pLaY tHE gAmE dEH WEy et EZe. GiT gUd sCRuB" and stupid jokes are always shoved down our throats. Luckily I'm not one of them. So here is what your gonna do.

Step 1. open steam overlay and click on the underlined word that says "controller configuration" which is under the title of the game. It will open the steam controller configurator.

Step 2. You will see the layout of the controller. Click on the button on the layout screen that you use as the shoot button in game (in your case "Left Bumper") and it will bring up the keyboard, mouse and controller presentation.

Step 3. Click on "Show Activators" located on the bottom of screen and in the "Regular Press" activator section (is "Regular Press" as default), turn on "Hold to repeat Turbo" and "Interruptable", then turn off "Toggle". This allows you to auto fire when the shoot button is held.

Step 4. Click on "Add Activator" and will create another "Regular Press" activator section as default and change the activation type to "Release Press" and it will become a "Release Press" activator section. This enables auto charge.

How it works: When you press or hold the button once, it enables the auto charge, after you shoot the charge shot, it disables it. Just press or hold the shoot button once again to enable it again. Hopes this helps man.

If you have a dualshock 4, you could also try buying a back button attatchment. This makes Exceed possible while being locked on and charging since you'll only be using your middle fingers for it and devil trigger is too sparse of a mechanic to worry about

I have Exceed binded to RT in game, and RT is phisically binded to the left paddle. Makes things easier.
i never physically press RT whenever I play this game anymore because of it, which is great

Thanks, you just saved me a lot of misery in many other games. And ♥♥♥♥ redditors, they deserve everything that's coming to them. In the same way the government kills the value of currency with inflation and poor investments, redditors kill the value of words by normalizing lies.
