It works so well in AC Odyssey, Capcom should hire some Ubisoft staff...

"What are the available display / graphical settings for the game?
Display
HDR Mode: On / Off (4K + HDR compatible display required)
Color Space: sRGB / Rec. 709"
No Capcom, there is NOT any HDR setting in your game, that's some serious scam here.
Either you monitor is bad or you didn't configure the screen options in game properly or your monitor is bad.
On an LG 27 UK650 with a meager 400 nits the HDR is stunning.
Fire, explosions, sparks, neon lights, you name it, lights are super bright some of them are blinding if you stand 40-50 from the screen.
The blacks are also very deep, I can't see the grey veil you mention anywhere.
So far the RE2 engine has by far the best HDR implementation on PC in my opinion.
It doesn't require you to turn on the global Windows HDR toggle, the ingame calibration tools (especially the white square) are super easy to use and it delivers great image quality.
Resident Evil was a bit toned down in order to allow the players to find items and what not in what would have been otherwise pitch black spaces, but here in DMC5 both dark scenes and bright highlights are stunning.
my TV is professionally calibrated dude and i'm not the only with this kind of problem and this is not because about my settings, it's because of the game hdr. I have PS4 pro, xbox one x, i play this game on every platform and hdr looks awful. RE2 has one of the worst hdr implementaion ever, even digital foundry acknowledge that. If you think RE2 has the best hdr implementaion on PC either you dodn't understand how hdr must look and work, or you just don't see really beautiful hdr not only on PC, but on PS4, like God of War, Spider Man, Horizon Zero dawn, Detroit etc.
I've stopped trying to enable it and gave up. I figure this RE engine just has terrible HDR support. Sure they will fix it eventually.
The grey veil usually means it's still running sdr. Check your driver's, fixed that for me.
And HDR doesn't depend on the screen resolution, should work with any.
How can I do that?
How should I set the Maximum Brightness (Luminiance) and the blue/red option in "Brightness"?
And should I change anything in the TV?
Also the game often starts up windowed and off to the side of the screen (cropped outside the desktop) - any fixes?
Lowering the value on the last HDR calibration screen should make the dark areas darker (the more blue there is, the more you favor dark areas).
HDR works fine for me, as long as I don't alt tab out of the game. If I alt tab out of the game and then go back to it, everything is just grey and washed out. I can fix this by restarting the game completely. Maybe the grey and washed out image you are experiencing might have something to do with the fact that the game often starts in windowed mode for you.
Can't find a solution. Damn.
It's my favorite game series of all time -and I have an issue I can't fix!
It explains the gray/purple washed out look I get.
