However, and don't ask me how it happened (maybe CCleaner) but DMC4 and the HD collection stopped working on my PC due to missing dll's.
Specifically the 2 for the HD collection (mfplat.dll and mfreadwrite.dll) were what I needed to get DMC5 up and running.
I couldnt get them by installing windows media packs, video codecs or re-installing windows entirely. I had to use a dodgy looking dll download site, which any sensible person would not recommend. If you wanna take the risk like I did here are the links for them, just copy them into the game folder where the .exe is (I feel its a bit too risky to drop them in sys32 and register them)

Oh and on a side note, I'm currently crashing in Nico's shop where its loading those little skill preview videos. Another user downloaded video codecs to fix it for him, didn't work for me so I'm now doing a manual upgrade to windows 1809.
Link for the codec that helped him below

You can bump it if it works, so others get to enjoy it too ^^
Couldn't find a way to remove that dll, but im up and running anyway.
Solved my in-game video loading problem thanks to this guy telling us to use the Codec Tweak Tool.
Have you checked if the file is read-only? That might be the issue. Also, what is the fatal eror message you are getting? DX12 crashes seem to be related to people running OC gpu or cpu, which can be related to voltage, clock speeds or any OC programs like MSI afterburner interfering with the game somehow. If you are OC-ing then it could be a DX12 issue.

Have you checked if the file is read only? And are you using an integrated GPU?
Yes I have... It was not read-only. I changed and saved the file... and it reverted to previous state on its own!!! Plus, I need a REAL FIX!
