A good majority of games that are HDR capable has this problem where the screenshots and videos you capture appears washed out when HDR mode is enabled. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Resident Evil 2 Remake, Metro Exodus, etc. all have the same problem.
It's the HDR implementation. It's still fairly new. I wish they figure this out eventually.
I currently don't have the game and I thought the problem wasn't only taking screenshots or capturing videos. If it's not washed out while playing the game then it's fine. Can you plz confirm this and that the lights are really popping out as in real HDR content ? (as I'm planning to buy the game if so)
It was overly bright the first time I turned on DMC 5 though due to firmware update having changed my hdr settings from game mode.
Have you checked all the tv and windows settings?
Yea I can confirm HDR looks awesome during gameplay on my Acer Predator X27 which is a 4k, GSYNC HDR 144Hz monitor. Resident Evil 2 Remake looks very nice too in HDR. It only appears washed out on the screenshots and video captures... not in-game or while playing.
But in this game it's just completely broken.
I'll probably have to buy it on steam instead of the cheaper one on gamesplanet to be able to refund it if it doesn't work for me... Or maybe wait for a steam demo version
I have the older EF95 model. HDR works just fine from my PS4 Pro and Netflix app. Windows 10 always gave me trouble.
Can confirm this worked for me. There is an extra step. ALT + TAB will set the game into Windowed mode, but will turn off HDR. Go in settings and switch it to Fullscreen and HDR should stay off.
I will add this to the top of the thread.
The same rule applies to Resident Evil 2. If you use the suggested settings, the game will look very washed out. By default the paper white is set way to high. Lowering it by alot will result in a much better HDR experience.
Because the ingame instruction are misleading. If you follow the ingame instruction on how to setup HDR in this game, you will most likely ended up with a washed out image. The game basically tells you to set the paper white to a ridiculously high level. This will result in much brighter dark areas. Resident Evil 2 has the exact same problem. The game looks extremely washed out, if you follow the ingame instruction to the letter and it looks good, if you choose the correct paper white level.
