The PS4 controller works correctly but you might have to tell steam that you are using it and the easiest way to do that is to use the steam built in controller configurator to check if he sees your controller.
Only a few games on pc have built-in PS4 prompts but I'm pretty sure there will be a mod soon after release to take care of that issue.
Is there such a mod for RE2?
Right click on you game name in your library, configure steam controller. You can also use the steam big picture mode for a more intuitive way.
It seems like it. Just go to the RE2 steam community hub to check it.
Its also good to see some modders adding Dualshock 4 support too (at least for single player games)
I really would like to see them do this even though they never gave use DS4 support for Monster Hunter World. I hope this topic gets pinned.
this link contains the list of games with native Dualshock 4 support (with all icon prompts of course). That list may not be complete though as I've seen this working for other games too
Since I've started playing on pc (2011 or so), I'm very much used to the x360/xone controler scheme but I must admtit that options are always a nice thing and players should always be able to customise their experience.
You know a lot of people own consoles and PCs at the same time right? Devil May Cry running on Windows doesn't make it a "Microsoft software". Aside from Steam Controller and Nintendo Switch Pro controller, Steam already has native support Dualshock 4. As TheNightwingGrayson said the only thing it's lacking is a toggle for button prompts. Adding a simple feature file this wont hurt anyone, will it? It wouldn't cost them money to do that.
