But gameplay footage with the song and the trailer sound alright actually. I ♥♥♥♥♥ with it.
But as you mentioned. Someone like Celldweller, Blue Stali or Shootie would be a better fit for this.
For example, if Dead Rising 2 had some generic orchestral themes for psychopaths, they would be most forgettable bosses in history, but music was so over the top and made you feel like a badass.
In general, I always thought of DMC's battle music to have some a strong emphasis in metal, so this makes seems right.

I doubt that anyone would argue that, it's just that the song is trash, or specifically the vocals. It doesn't sound as bad as part of the gameplay, however dmc 3 ost is far better.
Back to the question, I don't think the song is that bad, but I do agree the interpretation and the mixing makes it really hard to listen for me. Prouf is, LittleV's cover made this song good (not amazing, I won't go that far).
Like always, Capcoms has a bad habit of making bad decisions and I think this is one of them.
