With V - divebomb with griffon and with shadow you can attatk-pause-attack-attack, he will turn into clutches and it can wreck them, too. Or back to forth and then attack, that spike can do major damage. Or go nightmare on them.
Other way for Dante can be flaming up balrog, and when they are stunned (and they fall pretty easy), do swordmaster charged uppercut (can't remember the name, wanted to write dragon punch - back+hold style button). It depends on difficulty, but one shot like that can kill them.
There are many ways to deal with enemies and more diverse you are with style and weapons, the more fun game turns out to be.
(Although i have no idea of that hurts Dante or not but it will certainly get rid of the blades AND leave you standing)
