Help recovering save data

I backed up my save file on an external drive before having to reformat my PC from a Windows failure. I reinstalled DMC5 and it does not want to recognize my old saves and instead keeps creating new saves. Any tips for this?

Maybe turn off Steam Cloud Synchronization for DMC5 so it doesn't interfere and overwrite your backup saves. And there's 2 save file locations, 1 is in the game folder and the other is in the steam userdata folder, do you have both of those covered in your backup?

yep I do have those backed up

And Steam Cloud is off when transferring the backups to the save file locations and launching the game?

hello, i am having the same problem and i have already tried the solution provided above but it did not work.

guys please help me :(((((((

for some reason the game does not recognize the old save files and just keep creating new one.

I have tried to re-name the file and connect/disconnect but it did not work.

pleasssssse help
