I wanted to upgrade to Deluxe Edition but it's gone wtf? and I can't buy the items per separate bc they are not available, the unique way to get the Deluxe Edition, it's buying the game+Deluxe Edition wtf?? Capcom are you serious?

You can't use VPN to bypass anymore. I never mentioned VPN. Or were you replying to someone else?

I just had in mind if you really have to physically move to Japan in order to change Steam store preferences to make that strategy work. Never been interested in using workarounds using bypassing software, so I cared to ask if it's still possible today

I don't think the Japanese listing of Devil May Cry 5 is a different package ID though. If that's the case if you moved to Japan for example it should work without rebuying the base game. A lot of games that are region locked like have different app IDs, like 428 Shibuya Scramble is app 648580 in western regions and 648590 in Japan, or Psycho-Pass which is 522880 in western regions and 630790 in Japan. Devil May Cry is 601150 across regions, so the base game is probably the same Steam packages underneath.

Either way, whether you can bypass it or not, it's still scummy.

What I meant was that you can't be gifted the upgrade bundle, since it's a complete your collection bundle. Those cannot be gifted, you only complete the game with dlcs that you are missing.

Since Japan seems not to have a different sub app ID than US and EU, I believe that you can go to Japan change your address to a Japanese address and buy the upgrade. But at this point you have to ask yourself if it's worth the plane ticket money to just an upgrade

Ah, I get it. I didn't know there was a special class of bundle like that.

So the solution's been right under our noses all along??? And therefore, the absence of Deluxe upgrade in the store page is not intentional for the rest of the world?
I sent a support ticket seeing if they'll fix it at all, I'll report back here with their response.

If I get one, that is.

Also, knowing how Capcom is nowadays, they wouldn't remove a purchase option (unless they were gearing up to release a GOTY/Gold/Special Edition). Partially because it's "work" that doesn't produce profit, but mainly because they're just straight-up done w/ DMC5 for now.

DMC5's team has moved on to Dragon's Dogma 2, while the other studios are working on RE3, MVC5, and probably at least 1 other game.

Not to mention that these issues are exclusive to Steam. So, yeah, I wouldn't bother bugging Capcom about it when there's a middle-man involved. The issue is likely not on their end.

Try that & see if it opens up any options in the store for you.

Sounds like the orb DLC is simply causing an incompatibility issue w/ the DLC/Deluxe upgrade and thus causing it to not be displayed. So the idea is just do as Ringo there suggested (then restart) and see if the content/upgrade is now available for you to purchase.

I bought at launch before the red orb DLC was bundled in and I can see in the deluxe edition bundle that I don't own it. This is not an error on Steam's end causing the deluxe upgrade to be hidden. It's Capcom.
It's not the Red orb dlc that is causing it. My copy was bought from another store and was redeemed without any red orb dlc. I followed the instructions to remove the dlc, but since I don't own it I cannot remove anything.

The only upgrade option I see is the ingame unlock upgrade, which is not what I want.

It's either Capcom and/or Steam that removed the upgrade option, or maybe a bug that caused it.
Did they add Red Orbs with the base game 3 months ago? And was the upgrade pack removed at the same time? Most likely I think that Capcom accidentally removed the upgrade pack or maybe a bug that removed the upgrade option when they added Red orb with the base game

Edit: I checked on the Playstation and Xbox store and there is an upgrade option there

Sorry for the late reply, if you want to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition (For what I've seen) The only way to do it it's remove the game permanently from your Steam Library (Through steam support) and buy the deluxe edition like if you never owned the game. Hope it helps, and let me say that I'm not 100% sure if it works like that, but I've done it a few months ago with Fallout 3 and NV; I bought German editions, so I removed them and bought global editions.

Wow, is support really suggesting to remove the game from your account? That's not acceptable solution. I don't believe that Capcom remove the upgrade option since both Xbox and Playstation store has the upgrade. Capcom might accidentally disabled it when the Red Orbs was added as part of the purchase.

@Raidax, since you have contact with Steam support. Can you ask them if they have any possibility to talk with Capcom and ask if this is intended or a mistake. I had no luck with tweeting to @Capcom_UK and @Capcom_USA
