My controller isn't working with this game

I don't have an Xbox controller. I use a 3rd party controller called the EasySMX X10. It's a pretty good controller which uses the Xbox layout and it works great in almost every game. But for some reason this game isn't detecting the controller. When I choose the Pad layout in the launcher it just switches the icons to Xbox icons instead of the keyboard icons. The game still detects keyboard and mouse.

Anyone else facing this issue? Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried turning off Steam's controller assistance but no luck.

Try using ds4windows, it emulates old xbox controllers and should trick the game into using it properly. Also try enabling or disabling steam input. Never remember which

alternativly, you can buy like.. generic xbox controllers for 12-15 bucks

Plug the controller in before launching the game. The game doesn't check if you plug in a new input device after launching it.

@Riftweaver I'd rather not waste money and downgrade.

@M200Chan I think that's the solution. I don't remember if I plugged in the controller before or after the game launched back when I made this post but I was able to get the controller working eventually but forgot to update this post.
