Ymir dies offscreen after all.
Oh, you sweet summer child, don't be so easily led astray. Especially by a manga/anime that makes pulling things out of left field their bread & butter. Unless I missed something Ymir related from when i stopped reading, I see them bringing her back, even if only in passing, to develop Historia.

Agreed with this, I loved the way OC is integrated in the story and I very much doubt he/she is dead, this was a great idea on Koei's part, how to make the game with the same story as the first compelling and interesting again. I hope you will play as OC in the third game again.
Considering that the second game is just reused assets of the first and the third game is very unlikely to be done on new engine or anything, they have enough time to continue the story line and integrate the OC again, maybe change the story up a little so you feel included even more than in this game. And of course improve upon the features that are new in this game. Add even more rpg features, deepen the friendships (maybe fewer characters but make it more important and emotional, I mean I didnt even know like third of the peole in my notebook by the end of the game :D) and make more areas explorable outside of combat, if Koei manages to do this, which in current engine with the assets they already have should be a breeze, not only that it will be a day one buy for me, but it will be a freaking fantastic game.
Can you imagine action rpg with somewhat original story, where you get to make choices and create bonds like in persona, set in AOT universe... god I would kill for that.
Watch the 2nd credits all the way to the end. You get a scene of the main character approaching their cloak and blade stuck in the ground and reaching for them, implying that yeah, they survived.
You think this series would have also hammered the concept of plot armor into YOU by now. ;)
If they are like the DLC ones from the first game, it will only be more exploration missions. No cutscenes or story.
Jacket, Innerwear(shirt), boots, belts etc etc. The customization is pretty good.
Also
I made a post 2 hours ago regarding the second ending but I'll post a summary here.
At the last cutscene where you walk towards Reiner you can see in the shadow that your OC doesn't wear the cape and this continues up to the point where they/we sacrifice for the rest to escape. Now think back on the last scene in the 2nd credits. To me, this implies that our OC somehow survived/escaped the Titans or, as others say, it's symbollism for passing on or something.
Yeah I know about the recoloring. I mean actual costume pieces. More accessories. At the very least let us hood up.
As for the character surviving, I have no doubt they do. The last cutscene all the 104th cadets are practically foreshadowing it, then the last scene of the credits has you reaching for your weapon and cloak. Yeah, you'll be back.
A mentor system to learn teammates' skills would be interesting. Would let us explore more of the background for each character that may not have had adequate time in the manga.
