That said, it's highly unlikely the CaC is dead, important characters do not die offscreen in any form of entertainment media, ever. This applies one-hundredfold for anything produced in Japan.
Oh you sweet summer child. You think this series would have hammered into you that everyone could die by now.

Ymir dies offscreen after all.

She was dead long before the story even began, and was effectively brought back to life. The memory inheritence thing can happen through touch, and whatshisface doesn't ever actually say he ate her. Unless there's new information about her recently, since I stopped following the manga a while ago. If that's not the case, the plot of the manga itself leaves the finality of her (or anyone with a similar background) supposed death open.

Oh, you sweet summer child, don't be so easily led astray. Especially by a manga/anime that makes pulling things out of left field their bread & butter. Unless I missed something Ymir related from when i stopped reading, I see them bringing her back, even if only in passing, to develop Historia.

I suppose we'll have to wait and see what they're planning with the upcoming episodes for DLC.
But is there any DLC announced that are not outfits?
Quite a few on their website. Look for Additional Episodes.

The MC didnt die tho, honestly I loved playing as OC, thats what drew me to this game in the first place, I skipped the first one. And im pretty sure that this will continue in AOT 3, where you will play as your OC again, it makes the game far more interesting than if its just retelling of the anime. In any case, at the end of the credits you have a scene where you are crawling towards your gear, its in the same enviroment where you fought and you are cleraly exhausted/injured so I do believe that OC survives and will be in the third game when it comes after the anime season 3.

I expected the MC to die. Game tries to follow the manga story, and that character doesn't really exist, so they can't have him be a key party of the story. MC is just a generic nameless soldier and should die like one. Obviously since its a game, during gameplay you happen to be much stronger than normal, i mean the MC is a god among men with the way the game plays, mikasa or levi don't even come close to his greatness, 'humankind' would not exist if it wasnt for our nameless hero.

But story wise, he's a puny recruit until the end.

Don't know what game you're playing where the CaC was ever treated like a "puny recruit"...

Anyway, I don't think the game should be compared too heavily with the manga/anime. After a while, it starts becoming its own story (if it presented the plot better, it would be the superior version by far thanks to the CaC). The CaC is well-respected by nearly everyone, and is obviously being groomed for a leadership role by Erwin. Along with Mikasa, you're the only other cadet the Scout Regiment makes use of before officially joining them. Never do the main cast treat you as a nobody, not even once. You're always given cudos for a job well done. I can actually overlook how sloppily they presented the story due to how well they included the CaC.

That said, it's highly unlikely the CaC is dead, important characters do not die offscreen in any form of entertainment media, ever. This applies one-hundredfold for anything produced in Japan. Furthermore, they even let you save all of the characters that do actually die.

No one dies in AoT2 if you're badass enough.

Agreed with this, I loved the way OC is integrated in the story and I very much doubt he/she is dead, this was a great idea on Koei's part, how to make the game with the same story as the first compelling and interesting again. I hope you will play as OC in the third game again.

Considering that the second game is just reused assets of the first and the third game is very unlikely to be done on new engine or anything, they have enough time to continue the story line and integrate the OC again, maybe change the story up a little so you feel included even more than in this game. And of course improve upon the features that are new in this game. Add even more rpg features, deepen the friendships (maybe fewer characters but make it more important and emotional, I mean I didnt even know like third of the peole in my notebook by the end of the game :D) and make more areas explorable outside of combat, if Koei manages to do this, which in current engine with the assets they already have should be a breeze, not only that it will be a day one buy for me, but it will be a freaking fantastic game.

Can you imagine action rpg with somewhat original story, where you get to make choices and create bonds like in persona, set in AOT universe... god I would kill for that.

Watch the 2nd credits all the way to the end. You get a scene of the main character approaching their cloak and blade stuck in the ground and reaching for them, implying that yeah, they survived.

You think this series would have also hammered the concept of plot armor into YOU by now. ;)

If they are like the DLC ones from the first game, it will only be more exploration missions. No cutscenes or story.

I'm kind of annoyed that there are (seemingly) no plans for main character costumes. How can they make a customizable character and limit costumes so heavily? I mean I can get over it, but at least more accessories! It's bad enough we can't recolor the ones already in game. I'd love a black scarf.

You can recolor the clothes. Go to your room and select the wardrobe to customize your character.
Jacket, Innerwear(shirt), boots, belts etc etc. The customization is pretty good.

Also

I made a post 2 hours ago regarding the second ending but I'll post a summary here.
At the last cutscene where you walk towards Reiner you can see in the shadow that your OC doesn't wear the cape and this continues up to the point where they/we sacrifice for the rest to escape. Now think back on the last scene in the 2nd credits. To me, this implies that our OC somehow survived/escaped the Titans or, as others say, it's symbollism for passing on or something.

More likely he survived Koei is not exactly grand on symbolism and hidden meaning you want that go bother Akira Kurosawa.

Toss in some cool macro mechanics and interesting romance options and you basically have the perfect ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AoT game and Koei can really go for it we have seen with this game and DBZ's smash hits with Xenoverse 1 and 2 that most fans want to be part of these worlds not play as one of the main characters in these worlds.

Yeah I know about the recoloring. I mean actual costume pieces. More accessories. At the very least let us hood up.

As for the character surviving, I have no doubt they do. The last cutscene all the 104th cadets are practically foreshadowing it, then the last scene of the credits has you reaching for your weapon and cloak. Yeah, you'll be back.

If they do add romance, it'd likely have to be bar wenches or civilians that are brand spanking new. I'm not sure the creator would approve of such a relationship with canon characters. Which I'm fine with. Being friends is a-okay for canon, but love? Then again, maybe he doesn't have a steel bar up his ass like Reki Kawahara, he might be flexible about it given the missions where you can bring people back.

A mentor system to learn teammates' skills would be interesting. Would let us explore more of the background for each character that may not have had adequate time in the manga.
mademan2 27. mars 2018 kl. 1.04
I would love to see them improve on the friendship system, its one of the features that brought me to this game as well and its really popular these days. It does fit into the universe as well, I mean why not. It was somewhat well implemented into this one alrerady, but very bare bones, I would love to have more backround for the characters and even like playable sections of their memories and stuff when you are deep into the relationship. About romancing the canon characters, I would love to see that, it would be great to have the option and seeing as none of the characters in the manga/anime are actually really said to be together (nope, not even Mikasa imo) just about everyone could be a fair game. But its true that it depends on the creator, but even if there were only a few OC characters that Koei would create that you could romance, it would stil be cool. this game just had way too many characters to "befriend" to keep track of, cut down on some of them and make it bit more meaningful and its gonna be perfect.
