Crashing when entering first Territory Recovery Mode mission
Any idea of how to fix this? The new story and other equipment work fine, but any character going in to Territory Recovery Mode causes an instant crash to Desktop when trying to start the first mission.

I seriously don't understand how they missed such a widespread issue.

Power through it until it works. It's just like the trost missions in story that sporadically crash.

whoever left this bug go through this long needs to be fired for gross negligence. this is completely unacceptable.

There is nothing to power through though, the mode just straight up does not work, I've been trying to hours.

Well, it works, but everyone has had the same issue. It doesn't work, then without warning, it will start to work and then you're good to go. As there's no patch, it's impossible to nail down why it's failing randomly.

FINALLY!

Used DDU and rolled back my nVidia drivers from 430.86 (latest) to 425.31 and now it works.

Doesn't make sense why the AS exe worked properly but the EU one kept dying.

Game was generating 0xc0000005 in event viewer when it crashed, not that I could really find a set fix for the error.

ED: you can also remove AOT2_EU.exe from the game folder and verify the files so it re-downloads it. This worked pretty often for me but is annoying to do each time you start a game

still not working for me

use AOT2_AS.exe to play/finish the first level and save to get past the crash. Then use AOT2_EU.exe, Go to charter editor and change name. (unless you are lucky enough to get past the loading screen, then just complete the mission, save and your good)
not a good fix but it did let me continue territory recovery mode.

changing the resolution from 4k to wqhd worked for me.

As said by the other I managed to make it work just by trying again. Once the first mission done it work without problem. I then reset the map for inferno mode and crash again. Seem there is something wrong for the first mission.

I'm having this problem still, and I tried many of the potential fixes like verifying game files and fiddling around with some options. Nothing works, and it still just crashes to desktop. However, my friend with the exact same computer specs and game settings manages to run it just fine. I don't know what the problem is, but I hope they put out a patch ASAP.

I just got the following response from KoeiTecmo Support:

Dear customer,

Thank you for your inquiry.
We are so sorry for any inconvenience.

Please try the following procedure to see if it resolves the issue.

(1) If your graphics board is made by NVIDIA, confirm onboard chip setting
1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel
2. Select "Manage 3D Settings"
3. Select "Global Settings"
4. Use the Preferred graphics processor drop-down to select High-performance NVIDIA processor
5. Click the Apply button
6. You may need to restart your computer

(2) Uninstall and re-install the game

(3) Update the graphics driver to the latest ones

(4) Update Windows OS to the latest ones

(5) Please verify that the sound card of your computer is recognized properly.
The sound card may be recognized by inserting the earphone directly to the audio output terminal of the computer.
For the details on the sound card settings, please contact and ask the manufacturer of the sound card.

(6) If OS of your PC is Windows7, please try to install a specific windows update (KB2670838)
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36805

(7) If your graphics board is made by NVIDIA, you may avoid the problem with downgrading Nvidia driver to 373.06.
After you understand that the above procedure has the risks, please try it at your own risk.

(8) Verify integrity of the game files on Steam

(9) If your graphics board is made by NVIDIA, please try the setting of "Antialiasing Mode" to "deactivate" or "Improved" in NVIDIA Control Panel.

(10) Try reinstalling Visual C ++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012.
Https:/www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=30679

(11) Go to the Steam client's "Steam" -> "Settings" -> "In-Game" -> "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game" and remove the check to see if the problem is resolved.

(12) We have been reported that the problem has been fixed by changing Anti Aliasing Mode to "Application controlled" in the Nvidia Control Panel instead of "use global setting". So, if your graphics board is made by NVIDIA, please try this.

(13) If OS of your PC is Windows7, please try Windows 7 compability mode and to execute as administrator.
1. Right-click the exe file of the game -> go to "Property" -> "Compatibility"
2. Check the box of "Run the program in compatibility mode"
3. Select "Windows 7"
4. Check the box of "Execute the program as administrator"

(14) Disable the video game recording feature from GeForce Experience Share.

(15) Reinstall the controller driver, or delete unneeded drivers.

(16) If you are using G-sync, try to disable G-sync.

(17) Play after finishing off the resident software such as anti-virus software.

(18) If you have overclocked the CPU, try to restore it and see if it improves.

(19) If OS of your PC is Windows10, please refer to the following, try setting OFF where the game mode setting is ON, ON where it is OFF, and see if it improves.

If the issue persists, we are truly sorry and are wondering if you could consider requiring a refund to Valve.
However, Steam states their refund policy that is if the request is made within fourteen days of purchase, and the title has been played for less than two hours.
Therefore, Steam support decides whether the refund will be made or not.

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

Best regards,

Koei Tecmo Customer Support
