This made a huge spike in our "key activation numbers" which is not good for any developer let alone a tiny studio like ours. Whjich we realized only because we're getting ready to release our new game. That number changes the way Steam looks at you drastically.
I'm terribly sorry for not announcing this, I should've made a post about this the moment we found out.
Anyways, you guys are customers and it is not your responsiblity to check/know these kinds of things, it's not even possible for you to know or even guess these to be honest. So let's figure something out on how I can give you guys your new keys.
1) This is the common practice in these situations, however I'm aware that coming up with a 2 years old purchase's receipt is not a reasonable request, so a screenshot of your key activations from Steam should suffice as well.
You can send a receipt of the game's purchase(from any platform, in any shape or form) to theelvenworkshop@gmail.com
Edit: And I'd like to point out that we made no money from said purchases, these keys were given either for free or for a much much lower price of the game to people with the condition being "never to re-sell those keys". But they did anyways, we had no idea nor any say in this. We'll try to recompensate everyone to the best of our ability.
It's a huge mistake from our side that we didn't announce this prior but please think twice before you accuse someone with fraud. As I mentioned we made no money from your purchases and we're trying to make new games with such limited budgets you wouldn't even believe the numbers we have to work with.
We didn't sell you guys these keys, we were cheated by the people who sold you these keys too. So please try to be understanding.
You can imagine the position they put us to, again we'll try to solve everyone's problems.
That's the whole problem actually, we revoked the keys not to take our players' copies back from them rather to send the sellers a message. As I have been(and will keep on) giving everyone new keys. The hope and the mission is to send a message to those who scam developers and use their trust for their financial gain. Again I mentioned this before we got veeeeeery little to no money from all the revoked keys. But still if you got a copy of our game and played it it's plus for us!
Since it was our first game and was quite short we decided to charge the minumum price possible(1$), so we made very little money from it in total anyways so there's not a huge financial hit on us from this. We just want to make everything right with these scammy people.
Well it gets kind of murky but it's not a problem in our case. You can't possibly track every key's origin you get. There's no fault on you guys as customers/players the fault is ours to trust these people and theirs for using that trust.
Everyone who contacts with a prove of previous ownership will be given a new key.
I clearly stated above "asking for a receipt of a 2 year old purchase isn't reasonable so we'll find an alternative way"
