Just found this out while playing but you need to press the ~ ` button below escape and F1 at the same time and it should work in Full Screen.

When I was eight, I had no idea how to save the game. I started a new game each day, and had to play it all through over and over again to progress. Luckily in Atlantis I learned how to save before the final conversation. Imagine losing a whole game on a dialogue choice.

BTW there are many things that change each playthrough ei dial combinations, balloon landing spot, item to trade for squab, Atlantis entrance.

Hi, I just downloaded the game and I can't save it either. I'm playing on Mac. I've tried fn + F1, F2, etc (tried them all). I've tried hitting tab first, or hitting alt or cmd first – nothing seems to do the trick. Has someone else experienced this?

IF ANYONE IS HERE IN WHATEVER MODERN CURRENT YEAR THE ISSUE IS YOU CANNOT HAVE THE GAME FULL-SCREENED IN WINDOWS TO SAVE. IT >MUST< BE IN THE TINY WINDOW THEN YOU CAN SAFE BY PRESSING F1. YOU DO NOT NEED TO USE "FN + F1" UNLESS YOU'RE A WEIRDO GAMING ON A MAC IN <INSERT MODERN YEAR>

Hope this helps someone. Randomly couldn’t save the game, sometimes F1 triggered the save menu and sometimes not.

Found out by chance that if you’re running the game in Fullscreen mode and F1 doesn’t work, use Alt+Enter (Fullscreen shortcut) and then try F1 again. It won’t change the size of the screen but it seems to sort the bug. Happens if you alt+tab out and back in to the game….. maybe to look at a walkthrough 😜
